The Real World Homecoming (2021)
Watch Season 3
Was blown away by this homecoming reunion. A lot of heavy and necessary discussions. What a great collection of human beings. Was hoping Kelley would open up since she was quiet and I loved her in the original and was bummed she checked out. Wait for her reveal - just lovely.
The Staircase (2022)
Excellent rendition due to great cast
I wasn't sure I wanted to see this as I watched two doc series on the topic and thought I would get a bit saturated with nothing new. However, I gave it a shot since Colin Firth, Toni Colette, Parker Posey and others are in it. I am not disappointed. Their acting is superb and it is an interesting rendition that enhances the documentaries. The main character is so complex and conflicted and tragic which makes this such an interesting story. Colin Firth - well done!
Minx (2022)
My new guilty pleasure
I wouldn't suggest any changes to this new series from the early seventies. Clever story of intellectual feminist and her quest to deliver a magazine with equality topics whilst working with the San Fernando porn industry.
It hits its stride a few episodes in, so give it some time. My wife and I busted out laughing with some of the gender flipping phrases from good writing. All of the characters are loveable in their own way. I savor each episode. Also - the main character walked into a convenience store and it was so well done, it transported me back to when I was five in 1971. Better than once upon a time in Hollywood which also did a good job mimic'ing the genre. I am sure this does not have a huge budget so we'll done to all who work on this gem.
Return to the Wild: The Chris McCandless Story (2014)
Truth that directly fills blanks well
This is a well done follow up that explains the why someone so promising would pretty much go into the wild with a good chance of either overcoming tremendous odds or succumbing. Someone so damaged from abuse and witnessing abuse on top of the more killer denial. The parents really obvious denial in this film is both creepy and incredibly sad.
The sister sacrifices by getting this out there and it is not pretty. I don't understand the mean and petty reviews here that accuse the sister of making a profit from this dumpster fire of a father and both parents in their deranged denial and dismissal. This needs to be told and I am sure many people can relate. I can and thank you to the sister!
The Unforgivable (2021)
Sandra Bullock is great and I don't see any holes in story logic
Well executed role for Sandra Bullock. She looked and acted like someone who had been through what she had been through. It's in her face and in her bones - riveting performance IMO. Spoiler alert! My sense is she took the fall for her little sister not to protect her from institutional repercussions. She did it to protect her mind and from any guilt the youngster would carry throughout her life. She was young enough that she may not remember or her mind could be molded to believe differently. That made her act even more selfless. I cried like a baby at the end of this film.
