Interesting story with a unique cast should have been so much better.

Found this film in the bargain bin at my local video store and decided to check it out for the cast. The plot synopsis on the box also sounded like something you don't see everyday. Unfortunately, though, the film moves at a snail's pace and some of the performances (especially William Hickey in one of his last roles) seemed patched together in a manner similar to Bela Lugosi in the film's of Ed Wood. My friends and I were tired and depressed by the time the end credits rolled--this despite the film's "uplifting" ending. Paging Dr. Kevorkian.

Humor and impressive acting make this thriller stand out among the crowd.

This film hooked me from the opening black-and-white nightmare and managed to keep me enthralled for the next hour or so. While the plot may not be the freshest, elements such as humor, unusual twists and good actors kept this breezy thriller moving. I especially enjoyed Harley Kaplan's relaxed and real performance as Nick, the semi-clueless guy-next-door who guides the viewer through this increasingly weird tale of supposed house-sitting.
