Mr. St. Nick (2002 TV Movie)
8/10
A beautiful and heartfelt Christmas film for the whole family!
24 May 2024
A short summary of the film: After serving as the Santa Claus for 100 years, King Nicholas XX prepares to retire and assign the role to his son, Nick St Nicholas. However, the latter is reluctant to take up the new job.

With a star-studded cast (Kelsey Grammer as Nick St. Nicholas, Charles Durning as King Nicholas XX Santa Claus, Katherine Helmond as Queen Carlotta, Elaine Hendrix as Heidi Gardelle, Ana Ortiz as Lorena, Colin Cunningham as Agent Nardo, Wallace Shawn as Mimir, and Brian Bedford as Jasper) this is definitely the Christmas film for the whole family you've been looking for! (Trust me - you won't regret seeing this one!!)

Die Hard (1988)
A Christmas Movie ...
23 May 2024
... I think not!

To everyone here who considers this a Christmas movie, my question to you is this? Have you actually SEEN this movie? I mean, from start to finish? Because if you had, you'd all realise already that this is definitely NOT a Christmas movie!

I've seen this movie several times over the years, and although all the action takes place during a Christmas party, it is without doubt, NOT a Christmas movie .. at all! It is, folks, an action-packed thriller.

Now don't misunderstand me .. I'm not saying it's a bad movie. If you like a good thriller, you'll definitely LOVE this movie. However, if you're looking for a Christmas movie, I suggest steering clear of the thrillers.. Try It's A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, or Holiday Inn .. Or, for those who are looking for something a bit more modern, I suggest Home Alone 1 & 2. Now THOSE are Christmas movies!!

Babe (1995)
Not too bad as a movie .. Bad it turned James Cromwell into a jerk!
22 May 2024
If you like animal movies (particularly ones set on a farm, countryside, etc.) you'll probably love Babe. As a child it was one of my favourite films.

However, I have to admit, over more recent years I've learnt about what starring in this movie did to actor James Cromwell (Farmer Hoggett). Boy, I don't think anyone had any idea of what it would do to him.. The guy, quite frankly, has become a real jerk! Such a shame, as he played his part in the movie exceptionally well ..

Why couldn't you just leave it at that!? Honestly, if you wanted to become a vegetarian (because of having starred in the film or not) there's no need to make a total a** of yourself - especially in public. Not Happy, Mr. Cromwell..

My all-time favourite movie!
19 May 2024
To all the idiots out there who think this movie somehow promotes "animal cruelty" or some sort of "abuse" (or is somewhat disturbing!) obviously you people either haven't seen the movie, you don't know what abuse and disturbing means, or, you don't understand English. Watch the movie, my friends, and you'll realise already that there is nothing disturbing or abusive about it. It's simply the story of a beautiful friendship between a ginger haired cat (Milo) and a pug-nosed dog (Otis) and all the wonderful adventures they have together.

While Dudley Moore narrates the film brilliantly, viewers are also treated to the picturesque scenery + wonderful classic music to accompany this truly beautiful masterpiece.

Trust me, my friends .. It's definitely one you won't want to miss! 10/10.

The only words to describe this are ..

Truly sick!

To all the people here who have rated this 10/10 and called it "the best romance of all time" (or words to that effect), my question to you is this: Have any of you actually SEEN this mini series? I mean, from START to FINISH?! Don't you realise already that there is nothing "romantic" or great about it? I mean, it's a story about a priest who is, in fact, a pedophile. Father Ralph deBricassart (played by Richard Chamberlain) was practically all over the young Meggie (then played by Sydney Penny; later by Rachel Ward) ever since she was, well, young - a child! Honestly, I don't know what Colleen McCullough was thinking when she wrote the book. (Bad enough to write something of that subject, but to then turn it into something you think is fit to be viewed - for an audience, if you will .. Truly sickening!) Having said all that, the majority of works published by Colleen McCullough is fairly mentally disturbing, to say the least! For rating purposes: This isn't even worth a 1!

William and Mary (2003–2005)
Definitely NOT the "Comedy/Drama/Romance" one would expect to see.
13 May 2024
Martin Clunes and Julie Graham star in this series as the title roles. William; widow and father of 2 daughters works as an undertaker and in his spare time is a member of a choir and R&B rock band. Mary; single mother of 2 sons works as a midwife and has very little free time on her hands.

After the two meet through an Internet dating agency, all seems to be going well .. Until their careers collide on account of a mutual client.

If you're a Martin Clunes fan, you may possibly enjoy this series. However, don't expect William to be anything like Doc. Martin. The two are nothing alike. (Both characters have their good side AND their less than desirable side, shall we say!) This series is definitely NOT a comedy/romance/drama as IMDB has described. More like your typical modern-day trashy drama. Honestly, I was very unimpressed!

Total Plagiarism!
13 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Moondance (Kay Panabaker) is faced with her father's passing and her overprotective mother (Lori Loughlin). When she finds a lost horse and discovers his abilities, she convinces his owner (Don Johnson) to train them to compete.

For those who love & enjoy horse movies, you'd be better off with National Velvet, Black Beauty, or Flicka. They're all timeless films that children & adults alike can enjoy & appreciate; whereas Moondance Alexander has a rather poor & unsatisfying storyline/plot that - for the most part, anyway - shows complete plagiarism on National Velvet, starring the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor.

Love Happens (2009)
I can appreciate the sentiment ..
10 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Aaron Eckhart plays Burke, a widower who sadly lost his wife 3 years ago in a terrible car accident. After publishing a highly-popular self-help book on learning how to cope with grief, he begins conducting seminars in order to help other people who are having problems coping with their own loss of a loved one.

During his stay in the hotel where he works, he meets Eloise (played by Jennifer Aniston) a self-employed florist who works in the downstairs area of the building. As the film progresses, we see the two begin to get to know each - and start dating ..

While I can fully understand & appreciate the sentiment of the film, it actually did very little for me. The highlight came towards the film's end when we saw Burke release "Rocky" - a sulphur-crested cockatoo that belonged to his wife - out into the wild. (Gee, that bird was SO sweet!)

On the bright side, Love Happens could probably be most enjoyed by both Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston fans alike.

A Christmas Romance (1994 TV Movie)
8/10
Not a bad little Christmas film.
8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
A Christmas Romance is a sweet little TV movie that sees Julia (Olivia Newton-John) a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet up in her cosy little cottage in the Blue Ridge (or possibly the Appalachian Mountains) and her two daughters Deenie (Chloe Lattanzi; Olivia's real-life daughter) and Emily Rose (Stephanie Sawyer) help to rescue Brian Harding (Gregory Harrison) when he is injured in a car accident in the snow.

As a sub-plot we learn that Deenie's pet sheep is pregnant and it's up to everyone to help her deliver her baby - and on Christmas Eve.

Will the family have to continue to struggle, or, will they finally get the Christmas they've always dreamed of?

It Takes Two (1995)
What a rip-off!
8 May 2024
This movie is a complete rip-off (plagiarism, if you will) of the 1961 classic "The Parent Trap" that starred Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara, and Brian Keith. While it was a fun, family-oriented, sweet & charming little gem, (Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, and Natasha Richardson starred in the 1998 re-make, which wasn't a bad little film) It Takes Two just sees the exact same plot acted out (again!) with different people - and under a different film title. Having said that, if you're a Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen fan, you'd still probably enjoy this film. Other stars include Kirstie Alley, and Steve Guttenberg.

Young Hyacinth (2016 TV Movie)
A brilliantly-made prequel to the much loved Keeping Up Appearances!!
5 May 2024
Long before she became Mrs Bucket (or Bouquet, take your pick!), young Hyacinth was already dreaming of matching china and a bedroom in pastel shades. However, her desperate attempts to transform her sisters and her darling "Daddy" into an altogether better class of family are not appreciated. While Daisy goes around wearing Daddy's overalls; Rose has a new boyfriend every week. AND, if Violet continues consorting with her married manager, she could be inches away from shame and destitution!

Added notes: This brilliant cast sees Kerry Howard playing the much-loved Hyacinth, Katie Redford is Rose, Tamla Kari as Violet, Katherine Pearce plays the role of our Daisy, and audiences are sure to recogise the lovable Mark Addy as the girls' beloved "Daddy".

Definitely a prequel worth seeing!! :)
