Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003)
Very Impressive
Max Payne 2 is an impressive step up from it predecessor. Granted, the original was a landmark in video games all it's own, but this one brought more to the table.
The story line is as complex and as awesome as ever. I'll spare you a summary, because Number 1: It's complicated and should already be known by fans. And Number 2: For those who haven't played, you wouldn't want me to spoil it would you? As for being a "Film Noir Love Story," I was kinda shaking my head a bit.
The gameplay is, like the first, unsurpassed, non-stop action. Bullet Time is as fun and as eye-appealing as the first. The graphics are great to look at. Max gets quite a make-over. Maybe because Sam Lake(writer) isn't modeling for Max, but still, looks good.
The content was unbelievable. It's a little more sexually oriented but not to where it becomes pornographic. In terms of swearing...well let's just say the first was tame compared to this.
All in all Max Payne was well, impressive and this review is well, redundant. Final Score: 9.5/10
Grind (2003)
Pretty freakin' good
Ok, all assumtions that this movie won't be considered good in the eyes of non-skaters and the older generations aside. If you liked those gross comedy movies, this one will make you laugh at least once.
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS* Four guys looking to be sponsered skaters set out across the country to follow Jimmy Wilson a pro whom they thought would sponser them. There's Eric, a normal guy who thinks skating is what he wants to do for life. Also there's the womanizing Sweet Lou, who obviously doesn't even have to lift a finger to get a girl to make out with him. Theres the disturbed Matt, who was raised by clowns and later in the movie Sweet Lou falls for Matt's sister. And last, there's college-minded Dustin who wants to actually do something with himself. Along the way they encounter real pros, like, Bob Burnquist and Bam Margera. Overall this movie rocked. And in the words of Matt, "Greetings from the interior."
Twisted Metal: Black (2001)
TMB kicks!
Twisted Metal: Black is an awesome game. From the makers of the first two games, this blows the entire series out of the water. The movie graphics are very good and the movies themselves are outstanding. If you played the first four you'll remember the're semi-kid friendly. This one pulls out all the stops. Even the gory, sweary ones. You remember the plot: Mental asylum paitents are approched by a man named Calypso. If they participate in his car battling contest and win, they'll have one wish granted. Some are in it for redemption. Others, revenge. Eithier way it makes for great plot twists and top-notch gameplay.
