Leave It to Beaver: Beaver's Big Contest (1960)
Goodbye, Larry!
After being in the previous episode-"Beaver's Freckles" Larry makes his final appearance here. Just a brief one with he and Beaver driving a pretend car but it brings back memories of the episode where Larry talked Beaver into driving the "one lunger" around the block that ended with Beaver getting a ticket! Larry may have been Beaver's best friend but he sure had a knack for talking Beaver into doing things that inevitably got him into trouble. Immediately afterwards he would usually say-"Boy Beaver, you really shouldn't have (fill in the deed)."
Larry became a regular character after Wally got older and started hanging around with his friends (Eddie, Chester, Tooey) and Beaver needed a sidekick so along came Larry. He was irreplaceable even with Richard and Gilbert trying to fill that spot but they never really did. Heck, they never even ate apples!

Judy's last episode
As another reviewer noted, this was the last appearance of Beaver's classmate nemesis, Judy. She never missed a chance to tattle or tell how superior she was and how awful Beaver was.
I'm sure she was let go because she literally outgrew her part. When you see her sitting in her school desk in this episode she looks like a giant compared to the other kids. Standing next to Miss Landers she looks almost as tall as her.
They did try to replace her role with Penny but that was a mistake and that character didn't last too long.
Season 4 was a turning point for me with the loss of Judy and especially the loss of Larry. He would appear, briefly, in two episodes and after that he was gone. I don't know if the character of Harry was an attempt to replace him but he turned out to be really annoying and, like Penny, was written out of the show. Those two characters were irreplaceable and while there were still good episodes to follow, it just wasn't the same without them.
Leave It to Beaver: Larry Hides Out (1960)
We did see Larry's father...once!
One of the running storylines about Larry's household is that his father is always out of town (usually in Cincinnati) Whenever Larry gets in trouble his mother laments "If only your father wasn't out of town." Consequently, it's assumed that that his father is unseen in any of the episodes featuring Larry. Well, he is seen; briefly, in the season 2 episode School Play. After the play, when the kids are being congratulated by the parents backstage, there he is! That episode also features an appearance of Judy's father. (Apparently home from Africa after shooting 50 elephants!) We never do see Larry's sister or brother though.
