Tires (2024)
I Get Why This Got Renewed
I love when Netflix occasionally green-lights good shows from actually funny people. This show has a lot of potential to be very good. If you like Shane Gillis and his work, you're definitely gonna enjoy this.
The setting is simple, and a lot of people can understand the setting and scenarios that take place. The jokes are very funny, and the characters are fun to watch as-well, and the antics that happen do keep me interested.
For what the show is, critics are way too critical of it. Yes, it does have an amateur feeling to it, the jokes are lowbrow, and the show works a lot better if you like Shane Gillis. It's not 100% perfect, but the show has potential to be a cult hit, and Netflix probably knows that too, no wonder they renewed the show even before it got released. I am very interested to see how Season 2 does.
So, if you don't have a preference for highbrow humor, enjoy offensive shock humor, and are looking to enjoy silly jokes, this show is probably for you. However, if you do prefer highbrow humor, a distaste for shock humor, and are looking for massive character depth and growth, this is not the show for you.
South Park: The End of Obesity (2024)
Quite a decent South Park Special
This special was quite good, I was actually kept interested throughout the episode. Some of the reoccurring jokes were funny, had a good premise for an episode, and made some absurdist humor that isn't often seen in South Park anymore. Kind of a happy medium of early season South Park and modern topics. And the episode ended on a good song as-well.
The previous specials have been alright, but had been hit or miss when it comes to certain things, such as pacing, and overall plot. In my opinion, this special did a lot better at those two things. Good plot, and good pacing.
The only bad thing about this special was a couple of the jokes didn't land for me, one of the jokes was a little outdated in my opinion. Otherwise, it's decent modern South Park.
Smiling Friends: Mr. President (2024)
Not as bad as the previous reviewer states, but can be better.
This episode still made me laugh out loud at some of the jokes, and I found funny. Though I do think aspects could've been better.
I am not a massive fan of President Jimble, I think the gag was kind of annoying. I do think the lamb gag was funny though.
The episode was very fast paced, and didn't focus on some parts enough that could've made the episode funnier, like the worms controlling who wins the election.
Also, I think having Mr. Frog run for president and win does ruin potential chances of rejuvenating the character in the future for other purposes, as now he would be locked in as president.
I wouldn't call this episode outright bad, unlike the previous reviewer. But there was some that I think could have been executed better.
South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert (2022)
Absolutely Awesome
I did not go to the concert, but even as a viewer watching on my laptop this was very fun. I've watched the show for all my life, and getting to listen and watch all the songs be played live was very fun. The songs are good and are still good to this day, still being catchy and still cracking me up, along with the mix of songs from Primus and Ween. I loved that they also sang the songs in the original key as well, don't see that a lot with older performers. I also loved how cool it was to see Matt & Trey enjoy themselves, treating it as a celebration for themselves and for the fans. I also loved how heartwarming it was seeing Trey getting a little choked up at the beginning, and during "It's Easy Mkay", it was very sweet to see an emotional side to it. And the surprise appearance with Rush was awesome as well. The only thing I wish about this concert was that Comedy Central and Viacom didn't cut "Merry F*ckin Christmas" from the broadcast version. If you got time to kill, love South Park and want to see good performances from everyone including Matt & Trey, watch this.
