I'm sure you work too hard for your money to have it wasted on this movie.

I loved Jurassic Park. I remember being moved by the original. I was left with a sense of wonder, and left the theater checking over my shoulder for dinosaurs. All the things that made Jurassic Park great are missing from this. What we are left with is a rehashed plot, awful writing, poor acting, and bad CGI (how is it possible this movie looks worse than the 20 year old original?) Summer popcorn movies may not be meant to be Oscar-worthy, but we should expect more of them than this. While I understand, I am genuinely depressed that this movie is making the money it is. I wanted to see Jurassic Park reopened bigger and better. In the end, I find myself thinking how right Jeff Goldblum's character was in the original. The filmmakers got so caught up in whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think whether or not they should. I hope that someone reads this and saves themselves $15 and two hours of endless product placement.

Dark Water (2005)

Toilet Water

I read several of the other reviews, and I must write that I disagree with the comments of many. In my opinion, this is a dull, dull, movie. It's not a horror flick. It's not a thriller. I guess it could be categorized as a drama, but this description still falls short. The movie begins slowly, and never picks up any speed. I've joked that I would pay to watch Jennifer Connelly do her laundry. After watching this movie, I now know that that is only a joke. The acting was good, but the plot felt obvious and clunky. Very little in the way of surprises or real suspense. I did not care about the characters, and was hoping that the dark water was full of mold and mildew. I prayed that the characters would all suffer debilitating allergies and put an end to MY suffering. So dull... So slow... FLUSH!

Don't Believe the Hype
3 January 2006
What a disappointment. Other than great special effects, there is no reason to watch this movie. Too long and to hard to believe, I feel like I wasted 3 hours of my life. In my opinion there is a great deal of unnecessary material in this film, and so little substance that it makes it almost unwatchable. I feel that the scenes were very contrived and overacted. I had heard that people were crying at the end of this movie, but I was crying for it to end sooner. I actually wanted to get up and leave the theater halfway through, but my wife felt we had gone too far to turn back. If you feel the need to watch a truly inspired "monster" film, put Jurassic Park into your DVD player. Trust me when I write that you will enjoy it much more.

Batman Begins (2005)
10/10
A movie that rivals the first.
16 June 2005
Batman Begins is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. This is not a phrase I use lightly. The rest of the summer movies have their work cut out for them. Even though it is a comic-book, superhero movie, I found it to very believable. A very strong plot is supported by a tremendous cast. Christian Bale IS Batman. Michael Caine plays a flawless Alfred. Liam Neeson is excellent as an antagonist. Gary Oldman lays the groundwork for future films as Detective Gordon. The movie is a must see in the theater. We are even planning on finding an IMAX showing to see it again. I hope you enjoy watching as much as my friends and I did.

Better than 1 and 2, but still disappointing.

Visual effects alone do not make a movie. George Lucas should've learned this after Jar-Jar Binks bombed in Episode 1.

What I didn't like... I know many of you are die-hard Star Wars fans, but those who are not blinded by the force should admit that this is an average movie. Good special effects, but (in my opinion) not as good as Lord of the Rings. I felt that the dialogue was awful and very awkward. It as if it was written by a young child as his first story.

What I liked...

I like how episode 3 was tied to 4. I think the transition was well done. I like the "birth of Darth Vader." It was pretty cool to see how he comes about. I also liked the light saber scenes. Oh yeah, and any scene with Yoda was good as well. They were some of the more enjoyable parts of an average movie.

After seeing Episode 3, I think I was more excited about the trailers for Batman, War of the Worlds, Narnia, Fantastic 4, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Well, this is my (humble) opinion. May the force be with you.

This movie was so bad.
22 April 2004
This movie was so bad. I started watching it on cable, and much like a train wreck I couldn't look away. I sat in amazement as the acting went from bad to worse, and the plot followed. I can't believe someone got paid to write this. Just an awful, awful, awful movie. Patrick Swayze was terrible. The fight scenes looked like they were choreographed by a high school drama teacher. The ending was just silly beyond belief. An ex-con is involved in a gun-running scheme, and just because he turns in some of the bad guys, it's like the FBI is his own personal fairy godmother. What else would you wish little Cinderella? The dialogue was bad. Meatloaf was ridiculous. This movie had absolutely nothing redeeming about it. Save yourself the anguish I'm experiencing. Never see this movie.
