..truly the most magnificent, majestic ..tv masterpiece of all time. It baffles me that it hasn't been re-released on DVD. In a day an age when the market place is swallowing movies with meaning and history this should be an instant success.

The best tv series ever!

The Winds of War and its follow-up,War and Remembrance, weaves fiction and the events of world war ll together in what results in a TV masterpiece. Its not just a look at a specific areas or detailed events of world war ll, such as: Saving Private Ryan, Schindlers List, Enemy at the Gates, Band of Brothers, Captain Corellis Mandolin, Guns of Navarone etc etc.. This is a comprehensive look at world war 2. From pre-war Berlin until the aftermath of the war the viewer follows the epic story of the Henry family. Why this hasn't been released on DVD baffles me! So, listen up, marketing people at whatever company owns the rights to Winds of War + War and Rembembrance.. This will be a success if released on DVD!

i love mainstream movies just like the next guy.. gladiator, traffic, usual suspects, shawshank redemption etc. this is a movie very different from those.. but still a great movie. alan arkin is very funny. james woods makes his best role.. and gabriell lazure is a stunning woman...
