Believe the hype

I hadn't watched this show at first, season 1 was finished by the time I started watching and I heard from many gamers (pen and paper roleplaying) that it was a truly amazing series and I assumed it to be good, but I found that it was GREAT! There are few series out there where I can sit and watch the show, truly interested in every aspect of it. I sit there wondering about every single character. The important ones, the non-important ones, the vile ones and the good ones, the annoying ones and the enjoyable ones. Character I absolutely loathe are so well written that I am always interested in what they are up to, what they're doing and what they'll do.

There are quite a few twists where for one moment you think things are going to be okay and it's going to be a stereotypical order in the storyline and then all of a sudden the scene does a 360 on you and you have no idea where they're going with the storyline. Everyone who watches this has their favourite noble family that they would like to win and have justice and take the throne. I personally want to support the under-dogs, the Starks but I'm sure others like the other nobles in different parts of the world.

I highly recommend this as I have never seen another fantasy series that was done well in so many years. If you are a lover of fantasy I'd go for it. Magic rarely comes into it, but when it does, it is something truly powerful.

An interesting show, though clearly not for everyone.

Warning: Spoilers
I've seen all kinds of up and down reviews on here so clearly not everyone likes it or didn't give it a good chance.

I suggest watching the entire show before making a decision. My own thoughts are it's quite a decent show, though the beginning of season 4 I was a bit bored, but wanted to give it a chance and later in the season I was getting interested and can't wait for the final series which, unlike supernatural, they are going to put this to rest at season 5.

I got sucked into it quite easily by being a lover of sci-fi and the paranormal. Plus I love the ideas of an alternate universe and seeing how people changed in the other world where Fring Division is a popular and well known military unit where in our reality it is a undercover FBI unit. You see the dopplegangers of the other reality and how they have a completely different personality due to possible things that may have happened in the past. The "path not taken" if you will.

Plus the man known as Willian Bell is hinted at most of the season and when he appears, it's Leonard Nimoy (Spock from Star Trek's original series) so it's awesome to geek out at scenes he appears in. John Noble's character, Dr Walter Bishop is a man with mental problems, caused by having pieces of his brain taken out and trapped in a institution for years. The character evolves over the series with the presence of his son, Peter who puts up with his father's Eccentricities but also as the show goes on their bond grows stronger and Walter becomes more relaxed in public environments.

The science I enjoy too. I'm no expert so I'm not certain on how accurate some of the science is, but at the same time I'm willing to have a suspension of disbelief as it's not like they don't bother to explain these things. Best to just watch and enjoy it. Afterall, this is escapism and doesn't need to be grounded in reality.

Supernatural: Dead Man's Blood (2006)
Season 1, Episode 20

great episode, shame I missed it

This episode doesn't appear to be on the DVD collection for season one, part 2 as disc 2 ended at 19 and the next disc, 21-22. Could be just a UK thing so I have no idea wtf is going on there.

Rant over Anyway, this episode I found very interesting as they didn't have over-romantic vampires or anything like that and the vampires are quite intimidating.

Like with other monsters in this show, they are very good about how to bring them into the real world and not make them overly powerful or anything. I quite enjoyed it and have always been a fan of vampires too.

Wonderful show, though shows age

Love the show, always have since I first discovered it when I was a kid, but the problem I found was with the earlier episodes a lot of the jokes would just fly over my head when reference to what were current events in 1988 and so on, however I was born in 1987 so I wouldn't know.

The comedians online get much of their inspiration from this series and it shows when you watch it and the presenters were so successful in making people laugh that they continue to do so today with their own company Rifftrax: http://www.rifftrax.com/ Noah Antwiler from the Spoony Experiment mentioned he wanted to start up something like MST3K, but he never got around to it and went with his own style which is for the better otherwise there would be so many people doing the same thing.

all in all I thing it's a very funny series, however seems very difficult to get on DVD and I can't find any collection that has all the episodes, but I don't know why that is. I will mention, however that I find you have to be in a certain mood to watch it as unlike Nostalgia Critic of The Spoony One these episodes last the length of the movie and over so you have to be in the mood to watch a riff going on for that long, but well worth it on some of the terrible movies they do. Especially the one they chose for the movie.
