Doctor Infierno (2007)
Paco Limon makes a film that proves he is the man to watch in the coming years!
The best debut film this year. Paco Limon and his crew have made a film that mixes multiple genres. It's a thrill ride from start to finish that will entertain you, excite you, and possibly disgust you. Working with a relatively small budget, the director uses some creative techniques to avoid it looking like a small budget film, and succeeds. creative fight choreography, lighting, and minimal but effective use of CGI all combine to give the feel of a much bigger production. You can really feel the passion and drive behind the project.
It's a simple tale about a gynecologist who creates a cure for all the worlds diseases in his secret laboratory (somehow kept secret even though it's in a hospital) . . . his secret laboratory where doctors engage in horrible mutation of "subjects" just for fun . . . and once he has this cure perfected he uses it as a bargaining chip . . . I'll give you the cure free of charge if you make me supreme ruler of the planet and worship me as a god. And he has a robot army. And there's kung-fu. It's more insane than I can describe. I f-ing loved it! I loved the first thirty minutes of the film, and then it started getting weird and I experienced an emotion very rare for me . . . I was giddy! The guys who made this film obviously made it out of their passions, and that passion is infectious. Immediately after my first viewing I was on the phone and emailing every one I knew . . . you have to see this film.
