Damilola, Our Loved Boy (2016 TV Movie)
6/10
An Agonising Film
5 September 2020
Although it is a well-made film with good acting and cinematography, the focus of storytelling seems to waver over the course of the film. The film does not adequately address either the social problems that lead to violent crime by teenagers in London, nor does it highlight problems with the British judicial system that led to delay in justice. Most of the focus is on how the family of the victim dealt with the tragedy, making the film gloomier than it should have been. A great deal of the film focused on the imperfections of the victim's father, which I feel was not really required. Overall if you want to watch a film to acquire a melancholic mood, go for it.

Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife (2018 TV Special)
7/10
Good, but not upto her potential
4 August 2020
While Baby Cobra was much more fun and exhilarating, Hard Knock Wife lacks some of the thrill of its predecessor. Probably it has to do with the fact that Wong wasn't as famous and rich at the time of Baby Cobra and had thus put greater effort into it. Now that she's a celebrity comic the audiences just love her for being herself, the humour and thrill in her standup special has waned somewhat. Most of the content in Hard Knock Wife is centered around child birth and motherhood which at times gets tiresome. The erotic filthiness of her earlier special has been replaced by some cringeworthy content. It is still watchable and I am confident she'll comeback with much sharper and funnier content in times to come.
