SVU generally is sympathetic to victims of abuse, bigotry, or homophobia, but when it comes to any type of consciousness expanding substances it feels like Nancy Reagan wrote the script. This is such a sellout in my opinion. When you combine this with their disdain for any character that questions the efficacy of psychotropic meds you get the feeling the writers are not given creative freedom to dig deeper than the party line. New research is showing that many psych meds are only helpful in the short run, and may be less effective than lifestyle changes such as exercise, proper nutrition, and meditation.
