She's No Angel (2002 TV Movie)

Based on a Stanwyck film "No Man of Her Own", 1950

Doesn't anyone realize all these films are a remake of an old 1950 Barbara Stanwyck movie called "No Man of Her Own".

Pregnant Stanwyck is on a train running away from her low life boyfriend back in New York and is befriended by a young married couple also expecting a baby. They are both just out of the service on their way to meet her in-laws for the first time. On a visit to the ladies room Barb is given a chance to try on the fancy engagement ring when the train wreck happens.

In "She's No Angel" when the runaway was offered a chance to try on the ring I could see that the young newlyweds were doomed. Sure enough, within seconds they are dead. This movie is still running and I'm sure it will have some differences that will manifest themselves but if you have a chance, check out "No Man of Her Own", 1950, it's a very good movie in the film noir style.

That Hamilton Woman (1941)

Totally romantic wonderful movie

Churchill and Korda were great friends and its been rumored that Churchill himself penned some of the more stirring speeches delivered by Nelson in the film.

Emma was a great beauty from the lower classes and slept her way to the top. At one time she was a model for artist George Romney and many of her portraits can be seen at the Frick Museum in New York. They are breathtaking. Only later did she become more "lumpy".

Leigh and Oliver do have great chemistry in this film. They were married by the time this film was made having divorced their respective spouses while Leigh was shooting GWTW. They couldn't bear to be away from each other. Unfortunately during production of GWTW Oliver was appearing in a play in NYC with Katherine Cornell.

The separation was intolerable but his Broadway commitment and her shooting schedule were both relentless until the was a gap in her shooting schedule of about 2 days. She begged Selznick to let her visit Oliver during this mini break and here's what they arranged. In the days before jets, crossing the country by plane took about 24 hours so each of them hopped a plane and met halfway in Kansas City for 24 hours of romance in a hotel room.

After shooting this film in Hollywood they returned to England for the duration of the war.
