starts out promising but hugely fumbles half way through

I was enthralled by the first 45 minutes of so of this thriller. very gripping and realistic. about half way through though it becomes very predtictable and mind-numblingly stupid. we're supposed to feel sorry for the hijacker by the end, and JGL's character makes some of the dumbest decisions ever put to film.

I'd give the first half a 9/10 and the finale about a 2. so I'm giving the whole film a 4.

Extremely shallow considering it's length.

I was so excited to watch this but I found it extremely disappointing. This is not a documentary in the true sense of the word, there is no over-arching theme or analysis presented. It is just an endless amount of clips and blurbs about horror movies from the 80s, with nothing any horror fan has not heard or seen before in countless other formats. I was waiting for them to get into some kind of historical analysis or something deeper but it was just talking heads commenting on very superficial aspects of films against a backdrop of clips we have all seen before.

Not only that but I found some of the lesser known talking heads very annoying, especially the deadmeat youtuber who seemed very phony and scripted in his commentary. It was like he was overly rehearsed or reading from a teleprompter. very unnatural

it's hard to believe the price of this documentary. ive gotten more insight via free extras on a dvd.
