If this story is close to be true, WOW
13 January 2024
I am a non-american and I do not follow much of American Football (as as we all know that this game played mainly by hand, the name alone os wired to outsiders) ;-) but ...: If this story is anywhere close to real life, I do kneel down to this guy Kurt Warner. He was confronted to the challenges so many people are confronted to and he did it. Not only is his endurance inspiring but also the support of his loved ones. A great trait all to often not seen in real life, although his was real.

Great acting performance by the protagonists and great job by the director. An underrated movie that all people with hopes an dreams should see (so all of us ;-).

If the real Kurt Warner is anywhere near his movie character: Wow man. You rock ;-) That's what 99% of people can learn from I really mean it!

Better than the IMDB rating
30 November 2021
A series that feels like Tarantino. Though not quite as perfect as Tarantino, it has style and is so anachronistic that it is just worth watching just for that. This will become a classic because it is out of time. Nice try, nice result. Let it in!

Brainless
3 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For a start, I generally like science fiction movies, if the sci-fi world is reasonably well conceived, I like to accept the realities of this world and accept those realities. But this movie is set in a world close to ours. Even if a big chunk of humanity has been killed by a virus, it is absolutely idiotic for the still millions of human survivors not to prevail easily in a war against a few thousand apes, one of which is quite intelligent, a few of which have the intelligence of 12 year old humans and the rest has the intelligence of human toddlers. The apes have sticks and stones as well as a few human weapons while humans have access to millions of machine guns, tanks, war planes, bombs, grenades and whatever evil stuff the human mind has conceived over thousands of years to kill each other.

Yet, the movie humans find no better solution than to attack hundreds of apes with 10 to 20 guys with machine guns an knives????

In reality, men would send 5 B52s with 100 Kg bombs over the forrest with the apes followed by 5 B52s with napalm an then the forrest would be encircled by 5000 soldiers with machine guns and grenades that would kill everything left moving while moving in. Problem solved in less than a day.

Sorry, but this movie is so far from anything realistic that even with the best intention and most open mind for the fiction I had to to turn it of after 30 minutes because it was rhe most stupid storyline I have seen in years ... and I watch many movies.

By the way, the CGI is top notch quality ... Money does not make a good movie at all times

Excellent animation - Nice story - For the whole family
12 November 2017
This is the first full length animated Movie made namely in Luxembourg which I could view in Luxembourgish. The story is rather simple but the animations are world class and the dialogs, at least in Luxembourgish, are funny, namely because they are playing nicely with the particularities of the language. I hope the translations are just as good. The movie includes also a few nice novel ideas, namely on how birds use the social media (not a spoiler: watch it to discover how). I really liked watching the movie and my kids (4 and 7) adored it. It is a movie for the whole family not to be missed.

WALL·E (2008)
10/10
Back to Chaplin
12 March 2010
Wall-e is the best movie (almost) without words since Chaplin. It is a must see for all people who love movie with depth.

although I believe that children like the movie, grown-ups must love it. Wall-e is more real than life, more human tan Al Bundee and cuter than babe.

The movie has though also depth which you might love if you are a Greenpeace member or just adore if you are human. Wall-e is the most human character in the movie ... despite the humans. That is the art of the movie which is simple and marvelous. Just sit back and let Wall-e enchant you.

Whether you are young or old, you won't regret it, but you surely will enjoy it.

Gran Torino (2008)
9/10
Eastwood at his best
24 January 2010
Take Dirty Harry, Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven, let a brilliant director mix it together and you get Gran Torino. Immigration, gangs, racism, age and self justice are the subjects that are treated in a way that is not as you would expect from any other director.

Eastwood is the old school American that come from another time. His environment has evolved while he has not. He is an alien in his neighborhood but learns to live in it. He manages to let his conservative way help improve his neighborhood while he learns even more form the immigrants next door.

Gran Torino is a social drama in many ways, be it Walt's private life, his age, the immigrant's situation or juvenile gangs. Eastwood tells the story with his very own sensuality that is refreshing and has its own realism. The special Eastwood humor is naturally also ever present.

A must-see for all serious movie lovers.

The worst directed movie I ever saw
22 January 2010
This movie is the worst directed and cut movie I ever saw.

Although like watching B horror movies, this movie is a disgrace for the genre. The basic story is still OK and has potential for a B horror movie. The actors performance is also OK for the type of movie. But the cut and the rhythm of the movie is just terrible. Scenes alternate without any logical sequence and worst of all without allowing suspense or thrill to develop. Anti Hitchcock. Individual scenes are good and well filmed but the whole is just the most terrible thing I ever saw and I am a movie junkie.

This is the first DVD I ever bought which I trashed right after watching it. I am sorry for those people who performed well, but the end result is just crap.

Strong movie with cultural background
22 January 2010
Once were Warriors is an emotionally very tough movie. The actors performance is excellent and the story s just devastating, namely because it is leaned onto a cultural reality in New Zealand in the 70s and 80s. At that period the Maori were people were searching for their identity and their place in the western cultural society. Today they mostly found it and have even managed to have most New Zealanders adopt the Maori culture as their culture, which unites the multi-cultural inhabitants of the country.

This movie is about the hard way many Maori had to live through in order to get there told through the view of an extreme case.

The acting performance on Temuera Morrison is just stunning, though the performance of the other actors is catching just as well.

A must-see for serious movie lovers.
