Evil (2019)
Great Series but ... screaming banshee kids in every episode!!
Watcher beware!
I would have rated this a nine or 10, however two factors played into this decision:
One of the main characters has four daughters of varying ages and whenever they talk, each one of them screams in a different pitch than the other, all at the same time!!
By about one season in, they're no longer charming, they are fingernails on a chalkboard so have a martini ready!
The other reason For my rating is that some of the ideas for some of the episodes tend to be a little bizarre.
I don't want to say much more because I don't want to spoil it for anyone but just prepare your ears!
The Strings (2020)
Better Than Teading a Book to Fall Asleep
Strange but only the eerie background sounds made it scary.
I was definitely able to fall asleep. Not even the nude shower scenes could keep me awake. If she is a composer/musician, she would be better served writing less dark, melancholy music.
The "cabin" was nice but the frozen wasteland and isolation ... who would want to live there alone, particularly in winter.
Almost fell asleep writing this review because reviews require six hundred characters but can't find anything else to say about this film. Just...EXCRUCIATINGLY brutally boring. Could have spent my time having a bourbon at a boring bar.
Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)
Indy Oddity, Waaaay Out There
Bizarre, odd, unexplainable, inexplicably strange and nonsensical although bits and pieces began to tie the peculiar scenes and events together haphazardly.
One of Cage's weirdest roles and films I have ever seen. Stuck it out to the end and felt I'd have had better dreams if I'd gone to sleep rather than watching this cacophony of calamitous catastrophe.
Completely bereft of logic and overwhelmingly ridiculous but oddly entertaining every10 minutes or so. The theme is some disjointed dystopian existence of sorts, and an odd mix of Americans and Japanese behaving as though in some Mad Max parody.
Not sure I'd recommend investing an hour and 42 minutes watching this strangeness unless you are bored beyond belief or have absolutely no life, or possibly stoned out of your mind.
