Sexless (2003)
Brilliant. A witty and touching slice of life.
I saw this film at the Gen Art festival here in NYC and loved it! The frustrations of the characters, and their observations on the possible impermanence of love, were completely relevant to me. I don't know if it's just a generational thing, or if it would have universal appeal, but this movie spoke to me at this moment in my life as though I'd been guided to it by some unseen hand.
Kudos to Alex Eldridge for being such a natural actor in a film he wrote and directed. (The woman who asked after the screening if he was influenced by Woody Allen stole the thought right out of my head.) The cast are extremely talented and they should all go far (some are on their way already, i.e. Camille Chen).
The Austin tourism bureau should buy this film. It actually made me want to leave New York and take up residence there!
I hope this film gets distribution. I want all my friends to see it.
