Nefarious (2023)
GIVE SEAN MORE HORROR FILMS
Lets get the elephant outta the room. IM. NOT. POLITICAL. Nevertheless, i enjoyed this. Sean Patrick's acting was beyond incredible. For an entirely dialogue motivated movie, i was surprisingly entertained. The possession side being extremely predictable is a downside, unfortunately. Jordan Belfi did pretty good, too, but it's overshadowed by Sean. While i usually i avoid politics, this movie had me genuinely think about stuff. Warning: subject matter can get pretty heavy at times. There is not much violence, other than one scene.
TLDR: has some good messages, enjoyably suspenseful, and Incredible acting.
The Stranger (2020)
Watched 2024 movie version, what did i miss?
This *movie* is surprisingly good. I'm surprised, but i actually agree with the 6.2/10 (although it should be a little higher) but seriously, what's wrong with this *movies*. I thought that this was very enjoyable with good suspense seen, one of my favorite intro scenes. It contains great mystery and will leave you guessing until the last 30 minutes. Some people gave the *TV show* low scores in 2020, and I want to know what they cut out, cause by the end, I wanted more! The practical effects were honestly mid, but story, as unrealistic as it gets, is more than interesting enough to undo the negatives. The ending was satisfying, too.
TLDR: Good original story, with mid effects, good suspense, two great actors, and decent ending. 7/10 (obviously)
Next Goal Wins (2023)
Hey Mom, can we get "Champions?"
This movie is "Champions" (2023) at home. It is the exact same movie, with the exact same story, and even the endings are similar. We aren't even shown the actual games. Instead, we "see" the final moments through EXPOSITION.! As someone who actually likes football (soccer) more than basketball, I was severely disappointed with this. The main coach is extremely unlikable, and other than 2 or 3 moments, never has a character arc. All of the other players are either comic relief. Except for 1. It's even more odd because the 1 characters that they DO treat like a real person has really well-handled scenes! Overall, could've been alot more.
P. S. The comedy in this movie kinda sucks.
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Evil Dead film that doesn't hold ANY punches!
I've never seen any of the other Evil Dead movies, other than "Army of Darkness", so I didn't know what to expect. Needless to say, I had a great time!
I thought that a demon vs 3 children was a bit unfair, and that there would be Endless plot armor just to keep the kids alive, all of that I was wrong about. The kids surviving makes sense, for the majority of the movie.
The characters, sure are pretty basic, but on what I've heard that just "Evil Dead". They bring the Kid's Aunt into the movie to act as a guardian for them. And there are plenty of Chekov's guns that made sense and didn't feel forced.
My only problem is that there is a certain part of the aunt's character is kind of put to the side and nothing is done with it.
Again, great movie that only really has 1 or 2 problems. Would Recommend to a friend (That doesn't have a light stomach).
Scream VI (2023)
Worst "Scream" Movie.....yet.
Before we even saw the movie, my dad and I made jokes about how this was "Ghostface takes New York with a shotgun." and this movie takes it's plot way too seriously.
My entire family (Even my mom, and she doesn't like scary movies) all guessed the killers within 10 minutes.
They hardly do anything with the "core four", as they're called in this movie, almost nothing is done with them other than adding a relationship in the second act. And one of the killer reveals feels like it was just used to remove possible plot holes.
Overall, I'm curious what movie everybody else saw, and let's just hope Scream 7 is better.
Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story (2015)
Low rated Slenderman movie because "FoUnD fOoTaGe BaD"
I don't understand why this movie is so low. This story is pretty unique (even it's based off Marble Hornets), the acting is good for the most part, and rather than having loud sounds for scares, this movie has subtle spooks that I didn't catch the first time I saw it (I've re-watched this 3 times).
The Slenderman or, the operator, and his methods are terrifying. The way he brands his victim, following everywhere they go, and eventually killing them, is masterfully done.
The ending, while I won't go into spoilers (obviously), is also pretty good, possibly referencing a time loop of sorts. Overall, this is proof of why found footage movies deserve more credit, and I hope we get more movies from these filmmakers!
Creep (2014)
My favourite Found Footage movie of all time
I found this movie scrolling on Netflix and thought, "Why not?" and so I did. I think this movie is one of the most terrifying movies I've ever seen and If this was made at the same time as Blair With Project 1999, People would've believed this was real to. It doesn't try to be scary with cheap, meaningless jump scares, but rather by having tension and backstory, for both Aaron, and Josef. The Character scenes alone would already make for a great movie, but add the Incredible horror scenes and it just made this move cramk up the implied risks to 11. I love the whole, "Is he crazy or misunderstood?" which is done perfectly. The ending was great and was a great way to end the movie while also setting things up for sequels...... instead we got Creep 2.. :(
M3GAN (2022)
Completely average slasher movie
M3GAN is the 2nd most generic horror slasher movie (beside all the obviously joke movies) most of the characters have some personality, and I say most with very high emphasis. Characters like the crazy neighbor with the crazy dog are extremely boring, and are only there to be death fodder. Speaking of death, the kills being toned down for the PG-13 rating didn't really affect me, it's more WHO is killed. Everybody/Everything that dies in this movie I was rooting for to die, either that be because they were boring, a demon from hell, or just a person to where when they die, you just go, "Hey! That's the person from earlier in the movie!" and honestly, this is just "Robot Child's Play".
Europa Report (2013)
This movie is boring
I just want to start off by saying this is my 3rd worst found footage movie of all time. The most major reason being, IT'S SO BORING! We are trapped in a spaceship with characters that have almost no personality, hopes interests, nor anything to make them different form "that guy on the other side of the road, the "scares" are absolutely lame, and I actually almost fell asleep, not to mention the whole, "That person says they saw something outside the ship" cliche I think is done 3 times in one hour. The only reason it's 2 stars and not 1, is because it does have one amazing scene kind of trapped into the 2nd act of the movie, which, really isn't enough to save it.
