Us (2019)
I've come to realize Peele is just not for me
So, finally getting around to watching this movie now that it's on Netflix. I liked Get Out, but will admit, it was not anywhere near as good as I thought it was based on what others said. Nope was terrible to me. So I wasn't sure what exactly to expect with this one. I will say it's certainly original, which is great. But that's really about it.
There are a ton of flaws in this movie and things that make absolutely no sense. For example, the boy was able to make his shadow copy him, but nobody else was? That made absolutely no sense. There's zero story into how the shadows were created either aside from a 30 second theory towards the end. The other shadows didn't play around with their human companions at all, but for some reason this family of shadows decided to? Although very original, there was just way too many flaws in this story for it be very believable.
Hack My Home (2023)
One of the best home renovation shows
Absolutely love this show! No drama, no conflict, just a good renovation show that absolutely tailors to the homeowners. Some of the ideas, er should I say hacks, were really ingenious! These individuals deserve a lot of kudos for some of the ideas they came up with and ways to create multi-use areas in the home.
The cast is great and you can see how much they really want to make the spaces they renovate fit with the homeowners needs. They also go the extra mile a lot of the time and fix up areas of the home that were not originally discussed.
All around a great, easy show to watch without question. For people who enjoy home renovation shows, this one should be an easy hit!
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
I'm in the minority here, but I actually really enjoyed it
MNS makes entertaining movies for the most part. I don't really care about style and blah blah blah that others attack him for. He always has original ideas and, for the most part, he delivers entertainment. I don't think anybody is expecting some artsy farsty nonsense from him, but they will be entertained and enjoy some original ideas. I'm not a Dave Bautista fan, but thought he did a really great job in this role. Kudos to him.
This film was certainly different from a lot of horror cabin movies and that shows a great testament to MNS and his ability to take things we think and turn them into something completely different. Enjoyed the movie overall.
White Noise (2022)
Just fast forward to the credits
The credits are really the only enjoyable part of this movie. And seeing a bunch of people aimlessly dancing to a great song really truly makes just as much sense as the 2+ hours did preceding it. I genuinely have no clue what I just watched. Wow, this was one bad movie.
There really wasn't anything funny about it and certainly nothing scary about it. I'm assuming it's meant to be thought provoking about the fear of the death, but it just falls so flat because it's so scattered.
In all honesty just watch the opening with Don Cheadle speaking about car crashes in film. If you don't understand or enjoy that part then just fast forward to the credits and at least enjoy that part because there's nothing else enjoyable about this movie.
