Band of Brothers (2001)
HBOs Jewell in the crown 👑
I haven't seen anything as well made as this. I have to type without spoilers but the scenes in the snow. I'm sure when I was watching it was the middle of July, but I curled up under my blanket and rubbed my hands together because the directors, actors and camera crew captured the cold brilliantly.
Every element of war, and every aspect in band of brothers transports, the joy of victory the anguish of loss, life and death decisions made in the moment across time through your screen.
Despite being made in 2001 it still outperforms all modern war film heavyweights. Scene after scene imprints in your mind, teaches you the strategy of war, the tragedy of human loss and how ordinary men, through daring acts of courage, became heroes of a nation and wrote themselves into history books and the annuls of time.
I do hope you watch with attention, without your phone and absorb every second this masterpiece has to offer.
The Teacher (2022)
If this was a comedy I'd give it 10 stars...
Every actor, from lead to extras are terrible. Everything is overacted. The club scene is like a 9 year olds idea of what happens in a club. The silent detective is hilarious - like he never talks he just excessively nods. Maybe it was cheaper to pay him if he didn't talk. The script is appalling, the use of language at times had me bursting out laughing. If I could score it 0 I would. If I'm honest I think the teletubbies have put on better performances than any actor in this series. It's a shame because when British shows are done well they blow so many shows out of the water. This one has tanked entirely.
