Cujo (1983)
7/10
My childhood nightmare
9 April 2024
If I reviewed this when I first saw it I would have given it a 10. Now I'm lucky to give it a 4-5. I averaged 7.

As a young teen this movie gave me nightmares like no other. Before special effects came into play, just Cujo the infected dog hunting by bats & his pray of mother and child.

I remember being chased by two dogs which hightened my fear of this movie back then. Barking as they did. I couldn't even watch it I was so scared. Seems so silly now with the demonic special effect movies we have available for anyone to access and watch.

I would recommend this movie for a younger crowd that haven't seen today's horror movies to spoil Cujo for them.

I am glad I got to see it when I did. As silly as it seems now.

It started out good
9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this German miniseries with really high expectations. An astronaut that has past issues with psychosis that nearly crashes her fellow colleagues. Last minute saving them. Then she not only takes down a plane with them in it, but innocent civilians too. All we have to go by is the black box. And, we're still only in episode 1 and 2.

That's when things do a 180. It's like the first part never happened. It becomes Germany's answer to how, why, what, when first contact will be made to another life form. I started to lose interest and forced myself to finish the long last two episodes.

What a shame. It could have been so good had it just stuck to the original story.

Wow!
9 February 2024
I was hooked from the start on this true crime documentary. It was different to the majority lover, stalker, killer documaries in that this time you saw the male subject being stalked by the female.

What it does also proove is that a woman scorned is not to be messed with as she is imaginative, dangerous and very cunning.

For true crime buffs this documentary will be above the rest as there are so many twists and turns due to the psychotic but very intelligent stalker.

But like all Netflix true crime docos the ending is always the same. The bad guy/girl gets caught no matter how smart they think that they are.

I truly love season 4
15 January 2024
True Detective is one of those series that in my opinion has just got better with age. Season 1, yes was a ground breaking series, with Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson. No one can deny that was one of the best written and acted series ever to have been produced. But having just watched the first episode of season 4, Jody Foster is at her best.

I will try not to give anything away as it is truly something you want to experience not knowing what is coming. From the opening quote and the scene of the wild caribou running until the very end I was hooked.

I really can't say more without giving the story away so sit back and enjoy. Because I did.

Heartbreaking
27 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What in the world possessed these parents to pay a known abuser tens of thousands of dollars to "fix" their teenage children. I would say it's a case of more money than sense but one sold her house to be able to afford these so called teen camps that heal your child not only of laziness but drugs & anger issues.

My heart goes out to the now adult teenagers who still struggle because their parents paid to have them kidnapped and sent to hell camps, as per the title, to have them abused in so many ways a child should never know. With parents still not admitting fault.

Don't get me started on the wife of the founder of these camps. She's either in on the abuse or a complete idiot. To still speak highly of the abuser. Absolutely revolting.

Eddie Murphy at his best
23 December 2023
The first Beverly Hills Cop movie was a wondrous ride down memory lane. Not having seen it in decades, Eddie Murphy in the 80's was at his peak. BHC is proof of that. Long before everything became politically correct, when Eddie Murphy would just let loose and be himself.

With the clothes, the music and EM's language I have not laughed so much and so loud in a very long time.

My all time favourite scene is also in this movie which I will not ruin for those that have not seen the movie. With my all time favourite supporting actor. When the character of "Serge" Bronson Pinchot & Eddie Murphy's "Axel Foley" have their initial meeting it is comedy GOLD!

Leave what you believe is PC behind and enjoy this ride. I sure did.

Would have been a 10 but...
27 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I truly enjoyed this powerful Swedish drama. From the start I was thinking definitely a 10.

The story begins when Stella a 15 year old girl is abused by an older man and her parents decide not to press charges. Her mums a lawyer and dads a priest.

Four years on we see her again, having met another older charismatic older man, when things start to unravel.

As a priest and a father, what would you do to keep your family together?

As a mother, what would you do to protect your child?

Basically it's all a domino affect from the trauma she faced at 15 The last episode, not so much the ending, is what took that point off for me. Otherwise it would have been a perfect miniseries.

Don't Bother Unless you're a fan.
13 November 2023
Am I the only person who has watched this garbage that can not get into the whole spiderman idea. I find the whole idea boring and ridiculous. To call this a masterpiece as most are, is beyond my comprehension.

Unless you are a fan of the comic and movies don't watch the animation as it is time you will never get back.

I only recently started writing reviews. I decided I would only write them for movies I truly loved and lost myself in. OR truly disliked and found it was time I would never get back. Unfortunately for me it has so far been two for dislike an zero for like.

I have even started to ramble on, for which I apologise as I have nothing to say about this movie. Znooze fest. 10!

SVU does it again
10 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's shows like this that I love watching SVU. They never stop short of touching on the sensitive and real life topics.

When three youths bully a transgender girl, which ends in her death, they decide to try the one that pushed her to her death as an adult.

Watching the bullying it is quite heartbreaking at how judgemental we are as a society. If someone stands out different to us we pick on them and hurt them.

It makes it worse as the youths are African Americans which you would think would understand being outed.

Do you put it down to kids being kids or blame the parents. Either way as a society we need to be more accepting and accountable for our ways.

Pre Covid/ Post Covid
31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I remember having seen this episode a while ago. And it's amazing how post covid how my views have changed.

I remember the first time I saw the episode being angry that the children were not vaccinated by their mother's using the excuse of choice. How times change.

Post covid all I can think is I wish I had the choice to be vaccinated and not be forced to into it.

I do think more of the episode should have been spent on the students and away from the whole do or don't with the vaccine. There is / could have been a powerful story to tell if they stayed on track with their first topic and didn't go off target.

Pain Hustlers (2023)

Another Painkiller story
27 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
How many ways can Netflix or any other streaming platform possible find to tell the same story over and over again. Pretty lady makes good selling potent new painkiller for multimillion dollar company.

As great as Emily Blunt and Chris Evans are as actors they are unable to save this movie. It was a bore.

It was a repeat of all the other big pharma stories that we have been inundated with in the last year or two.

I recommend you completely skip this movie. Do not waste 2 hours of your time that you won't get back.

What a shame. I was really looking forward to the release of this one. Expecting so much more.
