Oswald (2001–2003)
Very, very cute.
12 December 2002
When Oswald first came out on Nick Jr., I was extremely curious about it. I watched it and it's a change of pace. It's not like Little Bill, that's modern and somewhat realistic. And it isn't like Franklin, where the lead character is so annoying, but that's how 4 and 5y.olds act. The world in which Oswald and all his friends live is simpler. It's unrealistic but I think I rather prefer it.

Aside from Fred Savage as Oswald, who sings cute songs every episode, there's also David Lander and Richard Kind. You know, Squiggy (Laverne & Shirley) and Paul Lassiter (Spin City). David Lander is the dysfunctional penguin named Henry, who has to do everything the hard way and has a love for fish-related products. Richard Kind is Pongo, a somewhat queer dragon who's super shy and whose large size has made him awkward and lack confidence. There's also Daisy, an athletic daisy who rollerblades around and is just plain nice. We can't forget Weenie either; super cute doggie who looks like a hotdog.

Oswald is a change of pace from all the rest of the shows on Nick Jr.. And it's definitely welcomed. I tire of seeing Joe from Blue's Clues, I tire of seeing his face every fifteen seconds on Nick Jr., plugging away Blue's Clues. Lord knows everyone prefers Steve. Regardless, if you're a fan of classic TV shows, like Laverne & Shirley, Wonder Years and Mad About You (I guess classic), you should try Oswald. It's cute, it's underrated, and sometimes you'll hear Squiggy sing. hehe Fun for people of all ages, believe it or not.
