The Witcher: Blood Origin: Of Dreams, Defiance, and Desperate Deeds (2022)
Much like Ep 1 but even more rushed
If you thought the first episode felt kinda rushed and some events a bit too convenient, it only gets worse in ep 2. It starts off okay, good fight scene, things look up. And then things start going downhill as two major contrivances pop up. The clan gang, in the middle of the forest, just happen to meet a dude who joins them and leads them to people who do an insane exposition dump. Less than a paragraph of dialogue between them and the three are now six. I had to rewind because I thought I missed a scene but that's how quickly it happened. But that's a common theme in this show. It moves quickly like you're watching a recap.
The Witcher: Blood Origin: Of Ballads, Brawlers, and Bloodied Blades (2022)
Netflix Resident Evil levels of writing
I thought resident evil had a convoluted story and contrivances. This first episode is even worse which doesn't bode well for the other episodes. I love the Witcher in large part due to the writing in the Witcher 3. So for this script to be all over the place and for the characters to be unlikable is inexcusable. At one point the protagonists sit next to a group of peasants who must have CNN because they know exactly what's going on on the other side the world. It's like they were in the writers room. It's so ham fisted and lazy writing. And that sort of thing happens often. Everyone that's not a main character is immediately forgettable. I just wanted it and I can't remember any of them. This is reaching "so bad it's good" territory but right now it's just low grade mediocre.
