Cheyenne: Satonka (1962)
Worst Cheyenne hour ever
I'm a long time Cheyenne fan and often question amateurish writing of episodes. This looks like an attempt at combining sci-fi with a western and then writing a really bad script. So many things that happen or are said a deaf and blind man could predict before they happen. A poor script and poor acting, or maybe that was poor directing? I know the creature was supposedly BIG, but the boulder it threw at Duggan would have weighed at least a ton. The creature was right out of a Lon Chaney/Boris Karloff movie and poorly done. It would have been great to have the internet back in 1962 and a way to convey how bad this episode was.
Gunsmoke: Pucket's New Year (1957)
Winter in Dodge
LMAO The show starts out with Dillon and Chester in heavy coats talking about the overnight temperature at 20 degrees below zero and viewers are supposed to get the impression its still incredibly FROZEN as they approach a run down wagon. So when they walk toward the wagon and Chester is clutching his coat to keep warm a fly lands on Dillon's shoulder and walks towards his head and to top it off in all the scenes where trees are visible they are all in full bloom with leafs. Cracked me up when I saw that fly land on Matt's shoulder. I tried to find the episode on one of my subscriptions to see the fly again but none were in my listing.
Gunsmoke: Jeb (1963)
Better than anything in 2022
LOL at comments about this not being a very good episode. Well, the facts are for network TV now in 2022 I watch a couple shows on Thursday night. The rest of my viewing is done bopping around cable and the multitude of shows I can get with my ROKU smart TV, but I recently found INSP on my cable which shows daily episodes of Gunsmoke. Rating this Gunsmoke episode of Jeb (S8,E37) against "network" shows I would give Jeb a solid 10 with the top network show about a 6. Rating "Jeb" against other Gunsmoke episodes, I gave it an 8 and that's because Gunsmoke was/is an extremely high quality show. I would love to find some info about that particular appaloosa in the show. A stunning horse as were 99.999% of the horses on Gunsmoke.
