A classic Hindi film at its best
3 November 2007
This is my favourite Hindi film featuring two of my favourites - Rajendra Kumar and Sadhana. Of course, it is not soley because of these stars - real stars! -that i love this film. This film has it all - drama, humour, romance and knows how to keep the suspense alive. It all starts with doctor - Rajendra Kumar - heading to Kashmir - where else in the Hindi films of 1960s? - and falling in love with Sadhana, well only after a humorous fracas on the plane. From then on its romance in the form of rajendra kumar singing, courtesy of Mohd. Rafi, and then you get beautiful songs like nargisee mastana. But a Hindi film is never a Hindi film unless it has a bit of tragedy thrown in it, and do you expect anything else when legendary Rajendra Kumar is in this film? He really knows how to string a tragic note with his emoting which is endearing. As for Sadhana, she is beautiful and matches Kumar all the way, and she shows how it is done. There is something natural about the yesteryear stars that current crop of actors lack big time. As for the supporting actors, Feroz khan, Nazima and Nazir Hussain lend a solid support.

What is the tragedy Rajendra Kumar gets? why does he keep away from Sadhana and dumps her? Will Feroz Khan marry Sadhana instead? What will happen.... You will have to see it yourself.!

Top notch western.

Warning: Spoilers
Come on, guys, this a classic action western of high calibre. Its got a great plot that builds up to a satisfying climax. Its a kind of film that lets go and wants you to enjoy yourself. The Budd Boectcher westerns are great, but that can be a bit talky and long drawn out. But Ten wanted men is has solid acting, writing and I have seen a plenty of times and will do so. Randolph Scott, as ever, is dependable and solid which parries nicely with Boone's brooding persona. The scenery is superb and i liked the beginning of the film where Alfonsa Bedoya kidnaps Skip Homier and his father and you are fooled into thinking that the action will soon start. granted the film takes time to let loose but, boy, when it does its like a firecracker. A must see film! Forget the other reviews!

Top notch Western

Warning: Spoilers
Another grand western with Randolph Scott which has him playing a naive southerner who rides into the town of Prescott, Arizona, and soon makes friends as well as enemies. He is soon given a chance to make some dinero by helping S.k Sakall( wonderful as ever here) to purchase merchandise. He also is pitted against the villain Raymond Massey and there is a grand conflict. One of the memorable scenes is the one where Massey has to contend with injuns and Scott and Arthur Hunnicutt. Another memorable scene is when Scott and Hunnicutt tie the sidekick villain and threaten to let a rattler bite him. This western is my favourite Scott western, mainly because every time i watch it it cheers me up. Its one of those films that bring me out of my sad moods. Its the music, the song, the action, the dialogue and Randolph Scott. Classic!!!!!!!

Colt .45 (1950)

Classic action western
15 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Colt.45 is a classic action western with comic strip heroics. It's not meant to be a serious western but a rip roaring shoot 'em up. The plotting is superb with great characters. I love it when the Indian chief says: 'indians can be so quiet.' Zachary Scott is a real slimy villain whose tendencies borders on psychotic. The way his cheek just twitches and he cold-bloodedly shoots Lloyd bridges is great. Randolph Scott is in fine form here and i always preferred his pre-Boeticher westerns. His warner Bro. stuff was exciting and lacking in the long drawn out talk his Boeticher westerns seemed to have. Colt.45 is a fine example of the kind of westerns i love and i can say with sadness that they unfortunately don't make it like 'em afore.'
