Dated and Related (2022)
Um not hot singles let's say above average
So for a tv show with an MTV vibe I was expecting 8's and above which a few of the contestants fall short for that. Most notably the Texas sisters. Their facial features are awkward and to that they are socially awkward as well. The first ten minutes of watching them attempt to flirt is almost painful to watch. Nothing against Texas there are lots of attractive people in Texas which is why I am baffled they went with that pair. I have a prettier face and I am no head turner so that should say a lot. The best by far are the London and UK pairs. The Americans don't hold a candle to them. So pass!
Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
No just no!
I had seen this movie before in high school and wasn't a fan but didn't hate it. One night when I couldn't sleep it was on as a free movie so I watched it again. After a second look I hate this movie. So the one redeeming quality of the movie is the setting in that it shows the charm and local traditions that would make living in Alabama enjoyable. So where to several characters are just awful. The character of Melanie comes off as a spoiled brat. She becomes a successful designer and hides who she really is from the world and why? Because she assumes that people who be bothered by the fact that she had humble beginnings. When in actuality the opposite is often true people respect others whom had to work hard to get where they are and didn't just have opportunities handed to them. She is embarrassed about being from the South? Some of the most beautiful, iconic things are in the south and there is a relaxedness you often don't find other places in the U. S. as they are very fast paced. Nothing wrong with being fast-paced it's just an adjustment like any other. So Melanie has been separated from her husband for seven years. Seven years of him sending back the papers. She doesn't go talk to him about it year one, or three, and so on. Not until she becomes engaged to a socialite and can effectively trade up. Then she's in hurry to handle her business. Jakes character is also bad. When Melanie tries to divorce him how does he handle it? Not by talking to her, Not by talking to her parents, not by trying going on a self-improvement journey. I am talking personally not professionally as he does do that career wise. He uses games to get her to talk to him. In him refusing to sign the papers it forces her to have to talk to him. Melanie becomes interested in staying with him but After he has become successful in business. Why he would even want to be with someone who is ashamed of where they come from and shallow to the core is beyond me. As far as her "Yankee" fiance he is very likable. He doesn't hold where she came from against her. Forgives her for lying even though there are some big skeletons in that closet. When she can't bring herself to marry him he also handles that with class. He doesn't start a scene he understands and doesn't hold it against her. Why because he is genuinely concerned for her happiness he wants her happy even if that's not with him. Again I don't understand why he would want her. Her potential mother-in-law comes across as bigot and is really not likable. However when she confronts Melanie how does she handle it. Not with class or dignity by walking away. Or saying something like " I have spent too long living for the approval of others. I am not doing that anymore. You don't like me okay. Then good luck with your life." That would show she at least learned a life lesson out of the experience. But no she handles the insult with unbridled rage using violence to emphasize her feelings. I feel bad for what happened to her fiance because he feel in love with an illusion and she doesn't treat him well. By the end of the movie I feel good they didn't get married because of all the games she played and quite honestly he can do better than her.
