Ok enough, but made worse by changes
2 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
On its own, it's adequate, but there was an underlying feeling of box ticking as far as the plot was concerned. They merged 2 characters together where a young man whose father was in jail was combined with a gay character whose father hated gays, to make a transgender character with all the setup for their conflicts removed. And the neighbor was dumbed down to the point where she had to tell otto to tell her what was going on where the original counterpart figured it all out before the halfway point. They put several callbacks to points in the book or other movie, where things just didn't make any sense, even the gated community didn't make sense, since it is just a u shaped road with 2 gates. All in all, I recommend the swedish film or the book over this movie.

Physically painful
2 August 2022
I saw it on prime video, and felt it had an adequate opening, but dropped it right after they finished the practice match when I felt physical pain at the logic they had for the team. Before they finished the match, I even sympathized with the main character, since I was a support main back in my league days, but the stereotyping was misplaced, teams can't really do the misogynistic roles, and no one who knows any better disregards a support player. Other problems, role doesn't equal team position or skill. If you want to watch something with females in a good role, watch "King's Avatar" and save yourself the pain.
