Feed Me (2022)
Truly delectable!
I saw this film at the British Horror Film Festival and not only was it the best film of the night, it's one of the best films of the year. It's probably obvious that it isn't for the faint-hearted, but it's a whole lot more than the gory moments. The script is outstanding, taking you on a rollercoaster ride through the tragic and chaotic life of cannibal Lionel (played with comedic precision by Neal Ward), and specifically his fortuitous encounter with the hopelessly depressed Jed (played with guts and heart by Christopher Mulvin). The cinematography is grimly beautiful, expertly translating the language of the characters, rich in mood and colour. The direction is sensitive, expressive, and at times outrageously hilarious. The musical score seamlessly blends the melancholy with the ridiculous, the heart-wrenches with the terror. It's, all round, an incredibly accomplished piece of work and a delectable treat for us all.
