It's episodic, but beautiful. "Stairway to Lenin" is probably one of the best pieces i have seen of that length. How the character of the scene is developed from supine peasant bodies, all the way up to the suits and telephones of the politburo. I wish i knew more about Soviet history so i could maybe understand the film better. It would be fascinating to learn not only how the scenes are shot and seamlessly interwoven, but how the piece was conceptualized. One also wonders if there is a specific time-matching between film and history. The next time i watch it, i will be keeping my attention on the brooding red sky... i am certain that it brews and develops with the music and the visuals.
