Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
Great Storyline But Not So Execution
"Things are not always what they seem" is the best sentence to describe this movie.
The story starts with a woman who is preparing for her wedding. She is a successful New Yorker who looks fabulous and has everything. But it changes when a director of the crime documentary reaches her to tell her side of the incident when she was a teenager when she was a student. It makes her face her dark past and threatens her bright present and future life which she crafted meticulously.
Basically, the storyline is really great as this is a sensitive case for some people thus make the production of this movie need to be more careful and meticulous. And maybe because of this issue, the execution for the story is a bit shame despite of great acting by Mila Kunis. Nevertheless, this movie is worth-watching and remind you that you can't judge someone just base on what you see and hear. Everyone have their own dark story that hard to tell.
The Watcher (2022)
When The Dream House Became Nightmare
The story of the Brannock family who finally could buy their dream house. But as soon as they live there, they keep getting a letter from The Watcher who said that he will keep watching the family. The anxiety increases as they find out that they also have uncommon neighbors who keep watching them and act abnormally.
Surprisingly, as you can see from the trailer, this series is based on a real story from New York. The story about how The Brannock tries to unsolve this threat by reporting to the police and hiring a private detective. Can these help them resolve their problems and find out who is The Watcher? Can they figure out what is the reason The Watcher doing that? Or will they give up and move out?
This series once again remind you that you can feel thrilled by something that can't be seen, the scared that comes from insecurity from yourself can make you as anxious as seeing a ghost.
Turning Red (2022)
A heartwarming relatable film
This Pixar animated film has set in Toronto, Canada. A story about a 13-years-old Meilin Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang) whose going through puberty. Her puberty is not just like other girls' but also makes her suddenly turn into a red panda.
This film captures the reality that happens while growing up in a hilarious way, when it is not just about fun and enjoyable journal, there are a lot of "first-time" things that are unexpectedly very shocking. It is not a "heavy"-to-watch film while it also teaches you how important friends and family especially when growing up.
It's a fun and relatable film to relieve stress.
Choose or Die (2022)
Imaginary or Real Game
Maybe it is not a very scary movie, but it is not a bad one either. If you are looking for not-so-scary horror thriller movie, this one is good for you. This movie is getting your nerve from the beginning, there are no scary makeup or creature but the story-line and the film set itself can make you immerse in the tense of the film. It's a collaboration between real and imaginary, but not in a confusing term.
Overall, I enjoy the movie. It is not as bad as they said.
The Willoughbys (2020)
A Story about What Family Means
A based on book animated film released in 2020, directed by Kris Pearn and Cory Evans (pre-production co-director) and the screenplay is written by Kris Pearn and Mark Stanleigh.
A family movie that can be enjoyed by all ages. And I think it is also good to watch by parents and parents-to-be, and also good content for children. It depicts that family is not all about blood or gene-related but more about arelationships.
