What did I just watch?

I initially wait till episode 9 to watch this and feel I can add my comments now I have seen the last episode and read a couple of reviews.

My thoughts are what the hell was that? It was absolutely awful. What was it actually trying to do? Was it trying to be a cringe fest? Was it trying to high brow? Why is it labelled as a "black comedy" when it has zero comedy?

It pretty much failed in every respect of whatever it was trying to do. I can see the objective and what it wanted to do which made it even worse. Then we have the ending which made absolutely zero sense. Again, I could see what it trying to do and again it failed.

The title is accurate to be fair as this is the curse of tv streaming in that any old rubbish can and will get the green light based on who wrote and who stars in it. If I could give this a zero I would. I would have turned it off after the second episode but I genuinely was amazed that something could actually be so bad and not in a good way. Sadly this is time I will never get back.

Not what you expect

As everyone else I went into this film expecting some kind of comedy girls holiday film where they have fun and awkward moments where one of the girls is looking for her first time.

About half way through I realised something. There was no soundtrack. Usually you get a banging soundtrack and the film is generally released in September/October. I guessed this wasn't what I was expecting it to be. I have no issue with how this film was made in that regard.

What came next was a dark turn in the story. I though that was well written although very distressing subject material. Consent is something that needs to be discussed and drilled into young lads. Girls also need to know this is not right and to speak up.

The issue I had was the ending. She finally opened up and again that was done well. Then she stops on the way to the plane and my first thoughts are she's not going to go, she's going to go back and report it. I'm thinking nice one. Her friend comes back says a couple of words and she's back to normal. That spoiled it for me. That's not how life works. Shame really. Could have been a 9/10.

Yes the acting isn't the best. The story is average however the execution is brilliant. Especially the ending fight scenes. It's like watching classic batman without the kapow or boom after ever hit. The incidental music is top dollar.

I went into this expecting some low budget cheesy sci-fi and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I notice some of the other reviewers keep calling it homoerotic. I didn't see a single scene of that nature so maybe they are afraid of their own tendencies. Who knows?

In summary. Don't expect a classic. Expect to be entertained if you like cheese. Turn your brain off and enjoy.
