Good Grief (2023)
Found family
This movie was a really heartfelt exploration of grief and found family. I found the emphasis on friendship really refreshing. I've always had a dislike for movies where romance is the main focus and friends aren't as important as the romantic partner and basically tossed aside as soon as a couple get together. To me friends are just as important and I wish more people saw friendship that way. The one thing that could've been left out the movie is the new romance with the French guy. As a huge Schitt's Creek fan I didn't mind that this was more a drama than a comedy. I'm glad to see Dan doing different things and I can't wait for his next project!
Our Flag Means Death: Calypso's Birthday (2023)
Best episode of the season
This episode had so many things I love: the crew coming together and having fun, Wee John being fabulous in drag, Roach being excited by being tortured, Izzy singing beautifully which actually caused my jaw to be on the floor. And of course Ed and Stede deciding to NOT take things slow after all. The set dressing of the party was amazing as well, so much attention to detail. The only thing that was missing was Ed and Stede slow dancing as they were about to do, right when Ned showed up. Curse you Ned! I was happy to have him gone but also concerned for Stede's wellbeing after that... Not something I was expecting Stede to do.
Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)
Great ending for the series
I'm a longtime Downton Abbey fan and I didn't remember anything from the first movie but loved this one. It was surprisingly funny and the end was very moving.
