I wanted to like it
3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why were they trying to paint everything in a positive light? Conte, the ill gotten wins, Montgomery saying "they can take my medals but they can't take the feeling I had." It sounds like he's trying to say doping was worth it or that it was wrong to have his results stripped. Yet at other times he did seem to understand what he did was wrong?

Also Conte's daughter being all what's the big deal about what my dad's doing? Why was his documentary made, to try to give a more "positive" view of Balco and those involved? To be controversial? Did one of the families involved sponser it? The amount of money stated to have been earned by those supplements was so gross, that is not redemption and I hate when people who spent their life helping people cheat ends up prosperous.

Netflix of course didn't touch on most of the important points like that, I truly don't get it.

I'm In Shock...
1 May 2024
After everything these people have been through in their lives, three of them (most recently Anjelina Nadai Lohalith, but before that Dominic Lokolong Atiol who also runs the 1500 and Fouad Idbafdil the Steeplechase racer) have been popped for doping recently. I cannot get over not only refugees but people who are on scholarship for the Olympics choosing to cheat. It's disgusting.

This isn't a comment on the film itself or the creators, but I think there does need to be some type of follow up dealing with or acknowledging that some of these people weren't who they were portrayed to be in this film.

Really Annoying Episode
2 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Did you guys know that no one actually wants to stay home with their kids and they'll all resent their spouses if they do and they never think it's worth it? Also why don't we just ruin the main male character in a way that feels totally unbelievable, let's make him not understand anything he used to and be controlling and weird. This is what a great comedy show is all about right? And we'll change the main character completely so she's suddenly super ambitious and doesn't want more kids anymore and doesn't speak her mind even though that's all she ever did.

Obviously this is all sarcasm but seriously it's one of the worst episodes I've ever seen, even though the original plot point of bringing the families together could have been really entertaining.

Should Be Good But...
1 September 2023
I was loving this episode until the shoehorned reference to Roe V Wade. The absolute irony of equating abortion with respecting women when the whole previous season has been dedicated to a suprise pregnancy and ecstatic parents who speak to their child from the moment they find out they're expecting. It's sad and disrespectful to people who recognize their babies for what they are and really ruined the beautiful moment the show was trying to create.

I do appreciate that they dealt with her fear of birth and wanting to take the easy way out. The egg freezing thing was another out of place plot point, I genuinely don't know if they were trying to be comedic or not about trying to take advantage of vulnerable young people who think they need to have a long career before kids and then spend tens of thousands on IVF which may not work instead of having kids a few years earlier 🙄

Disturbing Plastic Surgery and Disappointing Ending
12 June 2022
I really wanted to like this movie, and I did enjoy Daniel Radcliffe and the other male leads. The first half of the movie was funny and I enjoyed myself.

But two complaints really impaired my enjoyment. First of all, the movie turned into a mostly serious action movie instead of a satirical take on one, and that wasn't what I was looking for. It also just didn't hold my interest. It also didn't seem to be written as well and the end had a "what was the point" vibe.

Second problem; the plastic surgery!! Oh my goodness, Sandra Bullock's face was so unnatural and distracting, and it hindered her acting abilities due to lack of facial mobility. I would have preferred an older normal looking actress than one who looks plastic and unhappy with herself. It saddened me. It was hard to focus on anything else which brought this rating down.
