Wicked Little Letters (2023)
Psychologically rich story!
Still pondering this tale a week later: the letters as potential example of Edith's self hatred and bold self expression; her jealousy of Rose's freer spirit mixed with fear of it, like a sibling who has chosen being the "good" child, seeing the "bad" child; Edith's lack of fear at the trial perhaps being hope she'll be caught, so like a criminal escalating the crimes, writing more letters, then the freedom of having that part of her be seen; the thin wall between the two residences showing the fine line in our psyches between "dark" and "light", like the famous saying "At the level of our unconscious, we're better and worse than we know."
Cracked Up (2018)
wounds, coping, self hate, healing, grief, words of wisdom
Woe, this documentary has a lot, including a lot to process and wonder about, and think and feel. On display is the lifelong effects of childhood trauma, the pain, the crazy making of toxic wounded parents, the cry for help of cutting, and maybe humor and impressions. And the ability to heal some of it.
Into the Night: Portraits of Life and Death (2017)
both thoughts, and feelings in this documentary
While, and after watching, there was plenty to digest, both thoughts about what I and others think about death, and the host of feelings that can arise, along with the denial, minimization, rationalizations, or even the pain or inspiration. I would guess for most viewers, certain of the portrayals would resonate much stronger than other. For me, the cryonics didn't, the near death and the ex heart surgeon did.
