Star Trek Continues: To Boldly Go: Part II (2017)
What a fantastic show
If only the new "official" series had this quality of writing and attention to character development. I LOVED these 11 episodes. Only wish there were more. SPOILER - when McKenna is caught in the transporter and Kirk and Spock say goodbyes - there are few "real" treks that have conjured that level of emotion and feeling. Kudos to this cast and crew. Only wish there were more. Disco and SNW tale notice - it's about the characters, their relationships - not the action sequences and WOKE philosophy. More like these please.
Star Trek: Picard: Two of One (2022)
This season feels like a drawn out to episode
While enjoyable, this season of Picard is feeling like a long, drawn out TV episode - sort of like what happened with the TNG's Insurrection and Nemesis. Back to back short episodes #5 & #6 plus the filler feel of Capt Rios's little side adventure, have the appearance of padding for time. Surprising that Stewart would "unretire" as Picard for this "meh." Season 1, while not perfect by any means, had more of an epic fee to it, plus brought closure on the Data storyline.
Star Trek: Picard: Watcher (2022)
Can't we just have Trek without the Woke?
Seriously - ICE agents "disappearing" people? Every barrel has a few rotten apples, but to depict ICE officers as twisted and sadistic villains is disappointing. Old Trek was about universal truths and morality, not ideological-driven stereotypes. Discovery has already gone down this rabbit hole and probably will never re-surface from it. I hope Picard isn't tagging along for the ride. Not all law enforcement are bad guys and not all immigrants are good guys. To imply anything else is lazy and cliche. With TOS, even if the effects were a little campy, for the most part you could always count in well written, thoughtful stories. Why can't we have that again?
