Strange Things Happen at Sundown (2003)
I've Got a Camcorder Too...
Forgive me all that read this review. It won't be long, I assure you. BRAIN DAMAGE films.what can be said about them. Besides bringing out interesting, possibly trend-setting films, I think that the movie makers really need to invest in some better filming equipment. I knew when I saw the opening shot that it was going to be an uninteresting movie, and I was right. Was there blood in it? Yes. Was there vampires? If you want to call them that. Constant screaming from the victims, the cheesy blood that covered the bodies, frustration over a loss of $3.50 is all I felt. The cover to all of their movies is great, but then again, it's suckers like me that rent it and realize after the movie starts that we've been swindled. Oh, and please don't get me started on these Soprano-like vampires.
Yee dou hung gaan (2002)
Excellant
I use a one word in the summary to describe this movie because frankly, it is. Within minutes of watching this movie I was entranced, seeing things that frankly, creeped me out. Not since the SIXTH SENSE has a movie like this gotten to me, and my last two horror movies from Hong Kong have both surpassed my expectations, and made me think twice about turning off any lights while watching it.
Visitors (2003)
Boring...awesome...dumb
Spoiler Alert!! The back of the movie is what drew me to it, but it was the ending that sank this boat. I mean, come on, a movie about a woman at sea, is experiencing possible "hallucinations" (of her mom and a sailor to name a few), but these "hallucinations" can actually touch and hurt her. Is it aliens? Is it ghosts? No...(spoiler here) it's some type of spider creature that is at the bottom of her boat that is doing this? I'm sorry, the movie started boring (background on how she ended up on the boat (but we needed this, I understand)), then came the action, then to practically end it all with these "spiders". The director should have had this movie viewed by an audience, and once the boos came when the spiders showed up, he should have redone the ending.
