Persons Unknown (2010)
Very interesting and very enjoyable
I have been watching this series right from the beginning and I have just finished watching the last episode. I thought I would wait until the end to review it and I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this mini-series.
Most of the early reviews that I read simply compared this series to 'Lost', which is understandable considering the plot similarities and the short duration between the end of 'Lost' and the Beginning of 'Person's Unknown'.
However, as the series progressed, 'Person's Unknown' became a thrilling ride of mystery and drama within it's own story. The acting and direction has been excellent and the ending (without including any spoilers) was simply fantastic! I would recommend this show to anybody who is into thrillers and/or mystery.
8/10
Dragonball Evolution (2009)
Who do I see about getting this 1hr25minutes of my life back?
When I first heard about this movie I was very skeptical about how it would turn out. I am a big fan of the original dragonball cartoon series and I didn't think for a second that the movie would be as good.
When I first saw the movie, I almost cried. I didn't expect it to be great but I was not prepared for the crapfest that it was. The acting was average and the special effects were OK (not great, but OK). My main problem was the story. I won't include any spoilers but I will say that there was no need for them to change so many things.
To sum up, a classic and brilliant story was taken and absolutely butchered. If your a fan of the original series then please stay well away from this movie as you will just be disappointed like I was. I just pray that the sequel gets cancelled.
Pocket Monster: Myuutsu! Ware wa Koko ni Ari (2000)
Very Good Film
I thought this was a brilliant film, it explains a lot about Mewtwo's departure after the first film. the emphasis is on mewtwo's solitary with the cloned pokemon he lives with, and Giovanni's quest to reclaim mewtwo as his own property.
The film has a deep storyline and is obviously set within the Johto League. This doesn't seem to be in the list of official pokemon films so i can only assume it was a straight to video extra, which is good for any fan of pokemon who wants an explanation of happenings and events after the first movie, even though it is set 2 or 3 seasons later.
I would recommend this film for any pokemon fan, especially great fans of the first film, very well worth a watch!
Epic Movie (2007)
Not that bad a movie
Personally i thought this film was rather funny and i think the idea of films like this is to be completely stupid and (sorry if i offend anyone)...retarded! I actually like this kind of humour and although most of the film was boring and lagging, i think the funny bits were actually quite funny, like the parody of pirates of the Caribbean, i thought the actor playing captain Jack was simply brilliant and did such a funny impersonation.
In general i don't think this movie should have been slandered quite as much as it has, it all depends on a persons sense of humour, which in my case is paranormal and a little bit twisted.
I'm sure there are many people out there who agree with me but also many people who don't, either way i hope most will at least give this film a chance...the parody of "Snakes on a Plane" is particularly funny! Thank You!
Gekijôban Poketto Monsutâ: Myûtsû no Gyakushû (1998)
Great Movie!
I first saw this movie in 1999 in the UK (i was 14 and i actually took the day off school to go see it). I am now 22 in 2007 and i still think this is one of the best films i have ever seen.
I have always been a fan of Pokémon even till today, the storyline is incredible and the anime is bordering manga.
I can safely say this is an incredible movie and it annoys me off that so many people have downgraded it just because it's Pokémon.
Pokemon is one of the best anime series ever made to say it was primarily created for children.
I am a huge fan of manga (my favourites being Akira and Ghost in the Shell), and even though Pokémon is intended for children i think it is a very good series and the animation borders manga quality.
All in all, this, and every other Pokémon film are a great accomplishment to the Japanese industry and i would advise any anime fans to watch as much Pokémon as possible, if not for the storyline then just for the animation and battle sequences as they most definitely represent manga qualities.
The only problem with the Pokémon movies (compared to the DBZ movies and the digimon movies) is that you kind of need to know what's going on in the series to understand all the concepts and elements of what is depicted in the movies.
