A World in Arms (2001– )
8/10
Entertaining, thought provoking and well balanced presentation.
30 January 2007
This one of the few treatments of the politics of the French Revolution and its aftermath that I have seen that deals in a balanced way with the philosophy and politics of the historical narrative.

The great battle of ideas presented around the theme of the nature of freedom was seriously handled without being too academic. The irony of the Napoleonic victory over English liberalism through the European Union was not lost on this viewer. Not mentioned was the equally paradoxical victory of liberalism in the US where the French Revolution was originally so influential.

The music was also great.
