Need more SciFi like this
18 September 2009
I just saw Dale Midkiff on a movie on TV and I remembered the TV show that I loved that he played in in the 90's, but couldn't remember the name of it, had to look it up. I used to watch this on Sundays after I got home from work, in the early evenings. It was the highlight of my Sundays. I loved this show and wonder why they don't make good SciFi shows anymore like they used to (I'm a Star Trek fan, too). I'm not sure about the new show "Fringe" yet. It is rather way out there, but it does deal with a parallel universe. I believe they go overboard anymore when making SciFi, with weird monsters and such. Seems they could keep it a little saner for those of us who remember the good ole days!

Terrific!

Oh, I LOVED this movie! Before we went, I was concerned that Chris Pine wouldn't be up to the task of being a great Capt. Kirk, but I was wrong! I watched the original TV show back in the 60's and loved it then. The characterization in this movie of the original Enterprise crew was right on target. I did, however, think that Chekhov's accent was a bit too heavy - I had difficulty understanding him - but that is my only complaint, and subtitles on the DVD will take care of that! I'm probably one of the few who actually cried in the end of this movie. I can't wait until it comes out in DVD so I can watch it again and again and again! And I hope they have sequels!

Hugely Disappointed

Warning: Spoilers
My husband had never watched The X Files show or the first movie, but I am a fan. I explained to him the background of the X Files, and dragged him to see this one. He will never agree to go to another X File movie again, and probably neither will I. I am terribly disappointed that the plot had nothing to do with UFO's or aliens but was simply about a psychic priest. I guess I didn't read the description of the movie close enough to realize that. The only good thing was seeing Mulder and Sculley together again, but it felt to me like they were forcing themselves to act like they have the same challenging relationship they did when they worked together.

Parts of the story left us confused, such as - what was the reason for the dismembered arm being found under the snow in the middle of the field in the beginning of the movie. Why was it even THERE? Why was the murdered agent's head being taken to the offices (when the FBI was searching)? and so on and so on. We sat down and tried to put the pieces together after the movie, but were only mildly successful.

We wish we had saved our $10.50 to see a different movie!
