A Christmas Miracle for Daisy (2021)
Not the best, not the worst
I love Jill Wagner. She's one of my absolute favorites. Nick Bateman is totally gorgeous but he seemed a bit stiff in this. The storyline is predictable, yes, but movies in this genre tend to be predictable so when people express surprise when it turns out how they thought...I'm like what did you expect!?? That being said, this wasn't one of my favorites. It was cute, and sweet, but fell a little short. Felt rushed and not quite fully developed. Still cute but GAC is doing sooooo much better this year vs last. Last year it felt like they were just trying to replicate Hallmark whereas this years movies are much more original.
A Christmas... Present (2022)
Lovely Christmas Movie
I loved this one. Some of the channels who are fighting for Christmas cred have been getting really stale in their storylines and were churning out the same old rehashed story. It was nice to have a new, refreshing story that wasn't centered around romance or a couple who didn't like each other at first and decided they were in love by the end of the movie. This one felt more real. I love the extended family theme. As a mom who always wants to make the holidays perfect and special, I related to the main character while also relating to the brother, who wanted to simplify things. I also love the imperfection of the relationships. It's real. It's hard. I love the religious aspects as well. I understand that's not for everyone, but there are literally 100+ other channels for Christmas movies that don't have that if you don't want it. I personally find it so rewarding and enriching. It's hard for me to comprehend someone not having a rich, spiritual life. Loved this one, and I hope to see more like it on GAC in the future.
Two Tickets to Paradise (2022)
So disappointing
Normally, I absolutely love both the leading actors in this movie. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. Premise is lame and rushed, characters lack depth and development, the filter is so ridiculous on Ashley to the point of her not even looking herself or even real, plot feels rushed and the caricature take on gays made it impossible for me to even get past the first half hour. Honestly, it feels like for the last year and a half or so that Hallmark is just focused on churning movies out at such a fast rate that the quality has tanked. I wish they would focus on quality versus quantity when it comes to their movies. Bring back the cute movies like October Kiss that made me fall in love with Ashley to begin with! And Harvest Moon with Ryan!
