Jin shil (2000)
Very different from the typical!
I just finished watching this one. Talk about different! The story's central theme revolves around the dangers of lying. It starts with a car accident. Shin Hee is driving and Ja Young and Hyun Woo are passengers. Shin Hee is a bit tipsy and hits a pedestrian. The car careens out of control and eventually wrecks. HW is thrown from the car and JY is unconscious. To cover her crime, SH moves JY to the driver's seat and feigns unconsciousness in the passenger seat. At this point, the story goes back to the last year of high school for SH & JY. SH is the daughter of an ambitious politician who is also a wealthy businessman. JY is the daughter of their chauffeur. SH's father is upset over SH's grades and is constantly comparing her to JY (who is at the top of the class). SH pressures JY into giving her the answers on tests. This starts a web of lies and deceit that is made worse by the introduction of Sung Jae as an ambitious security guard who begins romancing JY thinking she is SH. Things get even worse when SH's crush, Hyun Woo, falls for JY. SH, tired of being outdone by JY, starts scheming to win HW and get rid of JY.
There is a bit of mild violence in this one and, towards the end, some hinting around about premarital sex. Also, the ending took me a bit by surprise but in retrospect, it was a fitting end for the characters. I definitely recommend this one.
