Biye Retour (2022)

Impressive.
5 October 2022
For one of the first Mauritian films, it's impressive. Of course the film is predictable and cliché in some ways; and some scenes are too heavy and dramatic while some light moments with more smiles and jokes (such as in the nightclub) would be perfect.

Despite these, the movie remains light with a simple plot and knowing the film industry in Mauritius - which is almost non-existent, and under-considered, Biye Retour puts the bar very, very high. The team was able to find the perfect balance between having a local identity and inspirations from the West.

Good acting, specially for the actors behind Parsad and Doriane.

Congrats to everyone who worked on that film.

👏

OK... CALM DOWN!

Yes season 1 is in slowmo- yes the focus is on human drama, yes it's predictable- BUT give it a chance!

INVASION reinvents the perception of aliens and give an alternative form of life

Even though it's called INVASION, the show is about humanity first (that was the point of the producer), and how people react to threats- even the minor characters do give their pov and opinion about the INVASION

I am sure that the rest of the show will be like that- lengthy, slowmo, boring at time and PREDICTABLE but I personally think it good that way. HOWEVER they should REALITY bring new characters with diverse backgrounds (like a prisoner, a homeless, a senior, someone with a disability, a priest...) and see how completely different humans manage to help or kill each other.

Also, consider season 1 as SEASON 0 instead as it definitely feels as the introduction (because it is)
