The Outreau Case: A French Nightmare (2024)

French law? Hmm?

Pretty bad stuff here. It's grim. But the way the French legal system operates here is a complete disgrace. Perhaps another example of why English common law is the fairest way. Adversarial, in the correct way, is obviously better than the inquisitorial concept as played out in this documentary. France always has some good ideas, but ultimately the Anglosphere knows best.

I have to write more? I love France. Baguettes, wine and pain du chocolat. Moule mariner and Truffaut. Alain Delon? Yep. Tres classique. At the end of the day, good concept, bad delivery. The French legal system. Liberty? Non. Just my opinion.

Reacher (2022– )

It is not particularly good

Done 2 episodes. Amateurish stuff. Highly disappointed given the reviews on IMDB. The acting is stilted and the plot is ridiculous up to ep 2. Another wasted opportunity. Formulaic can sometimes be pretty good. Like Banshee. This does not cut the mustard. Hope it gets better for those on ep 3 and beyond tho.

The Sinner: Part III (2021) Season 4, Episode 3

Intriguing

Good episode. Just have to laff at the Netflix 'diversity' scene though. I mean, c'mon man. Really? So very, very lame. One wonders what the director was thinking when they filmed that bit? Insane stuff. Nonetheless, Pullman carries this series.

The Unforgivable (2021)

Got to 21 mins and 48 secs. Maybe this turns into something interesting after that? Just looks totally uninteresting and predictable. Bullock is over acting here too. It appears the movie genre is almost over. Sad. Wokism and overeducated talentless twats are to blame.

Santa Inc. (2021)

Yep. Hollywood is finished

Only watched the trailer and first episode. Bizzare that relatively successful and wealthy Hollywood types would make an intersectional animated film about Santa Claus for an adult audience. Interested to have a deep dive into the funding of this absolute garbage. Its not offensive. Just extremely weird. One does wonder where silverman and rogan are coming from here? To please their paymasters? Avoid.

No Time to Die (2021)

Formulaic action film

This is not very good. The Craig Bond series started off with Bourne Identity action, but with a very well written script and narrative. We, including critics, thought this bond is gonna be good. As usual, it's gone to cr@p. Some nice action set peices, but sadly this one is yet again characterless and humourless. Actors today are more concerned about their twitter accounts. Sad but true.

The Trip (2021)

Been done before, but this is done well

It's on Netflix, so 9 times out of 10 you can expect garbage. This is a familiar concept, but it's done really well. The characters are all likeable and also hateble. The scenarios are stupid. But there's some great humour amongst the cartoon violence. This is nearly 2hrs long but the Scandinavians have done it again. So much better than most of the utter garbage on Netflix, amazon etc.

A reasonable murder mystery by today's standards, and great acting. But, the nonsense side stories that are totally irrelevant to the plot are a joke. Maybe this gets better after episode 4 and everything comes together for a reason?
