classic - Mani ratnam at his best
23 March 2007
Uyire or Dil Se is probably one of Mani ratnams best. His last installment for his trilogy that started with Roja and Bombay which were both Spectacular is superb. Rahman's music is great but the best 2 were chaiyya chaiyya n jiya jale. To think of a story based around Kashmir right at the top of India and then bring the southern tip of Kerala into the song's video clip is a great piece of work. Dil Se Re is beautiful. SRK really does well, rather then his usual lover boy acting he really does some serious stuff around here. Just like Anjaam, Darr and Baazigar. Manisha was pretty good with her acting she was very quiet. Preity Zinta was beautiful and childish. Though the ending was sad, and left us upset it shows us that love conquered all duty, and that though Amar and Meghna couldn't live together, they died together. They're souls will be together for all eternity. Mani Ratnam could have just showed us what happens to the other characters but ends with a dramatic effect, which was satisfactory. DilSe, Uyire or Prem Tho is definitely one for the Ages.

Good acting, alright story
6 December 2006
One of the most awaited films of the year is KANK. I'm a Karan Johar fan and I must say, he has excelled as a director. After his recent successes Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, KANK is another masterpiece.

Shah Rukh Khan takes a bold role in this film and does well as a short tempered, disgruntled man. Some of the scenes with Preity and his son were funny. Preity looked pretty as always. Rani also was OK, though the character Maya was too complicated.

Big B and Abhishek were the best in the film. Amithabh playing the old but youthful man who is still the wise 'Samarjit' behind 'Sexy Sam' was very good. Abhishek did well in the emotional scenes but stole the chow in the comic scenes.

Overall, KANK was a good film, but the affair of Dev and Maya was pointless and stupid, I didn't like it one bit. Songs were good like 'Where's the party tonight' and 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. The film was good.

Worth a Watch.
