Bhakshak (2024)
Old wine of 90s but well made
Haven't we seen this innumerable times - Yes
That politician and police nexus and one hero fighting for someone else's life and rights and not getting any support and no resources to milk on and then suddenly ek aadmi aa ke sab info dega, so all of that is same model of 90s movies with a larger than life hero or a dukhi bechara hero minus items numbers, this one was the dukhi bechara type with grit and passion.
What works: execution, narration, acting by the lead cast, layering as needed, no multiple threads, nothing overboard, predictable end but some chills and thrills, simple plot for an easy watch, galiyan bhi hai but limited to the reality, no crazy molestation scenes to bring saleable masala.
Honest effort, well executed and nicely delivered. The end is a little too flat with useless preaching, it should have had a sense of triumph that was missed out else it could have reached a high and got better ratings, that sense of audience feeling the win over the bad guys just mellowed down to nothingness. Still a good movie overall.
Murder Mubarak (2024)
Super tacky, nonsensical and poorly made
The cast was enough to draw people to this supposedly intriguing murder mystery with dollops of tickling comedy and some impressive performance with a clean story to put the pieces neatly together.
Its exactly the opposite of that, Everything including my time and hope was plainly wasted.
Pankaj Tripathy needs to tread carefully with his success till date, its not working anymore, he brings zero surprises and is flatly boring to watch, Karisma was lost and terribly used in a no brainer flat role, rest of the cast is totally a washout, Sanjay Kapoor was ok in what he was able to manage.
The biggest letdown is editing, kahin se bhi kuch bhi shuru and abruptly ends, romance and comedy were brutally forced and too many open threads, I didnt care to even watch some parts again to make sense of where it was going, i just let go and forwarded through this painful journey, why i am writing this review, coz it was a HUGE let down given the promise and the cast.
Its not even time-pass, its PAIN. Big alert for Simple man trying to overdo it and others hamming through their roles coz there aint no roadmap for any character, they seem to be doing a part time paisa banao aur niklo wala kaam, am sure they knew it from the beginning that this is just a pocket money movie for them.
By the time it ends you wont even care kisne kisko kyu mara, that is the biggest let down for something sold in the garb of a murder mystery.
Leo (2023)
Another pakau movie about 100 year old formula with zero plot
Totally useless movie, story is 100% predictable from the word go, a simple guy beats the hell out of goons.
WHY??????
Coz he was a mahapurush yugpurush and nonpurush level in his forgotten past. How long such crap movies be made on this thin plot, if someone is fed same dal-chawal or rasam-rice daily for 20 years but the ambience of the room changes and cutlery is glorified how would the food feel, exactly the SAME. Thats what this movie is about. Terrible movie, and with the true love of never say die audience its obvious that these purushless movies will be made for another 500 years and at interval when its revealed that hard hitting simple guy was a Don or special agent or something of a miracle in past the audience will have their eyeballs popping out in sheer shock. God bless the makers and those who pay to consume such vomit of 100 year old stale food.
