The Mummy (2017)
1/10
Mostly Empty Movie Theater
11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I remember back in the Summer of 2017 that me and my dad both wanted to check out this new reboot of The Mummy franchise. I figured that it wouldn't be as good as all of the other Mummy films throughout film history but we thought "Eh, what the heck." We were glad to get out of the blistering Summer heat for those few Hrs. At least but we would never realize that the next 2 Hrs. Or so would be all for not. We bought our tickets, popcorn & drinks, then as we walked into the theater room to find some good seats.......we realized that we were the only ones there. The whole room was completely empty! We both knew that this was not a good sign. Although not entirely empty, another movie goer came in to view this film with us, so.....it was a mostly empty movie theater. About 2 Hrs. Later, me and my dad (and the other movie patron) left the theater feeling bored to death, disappointed and wishing that we had checked out a different movie instead. I wanted to tell everyone from all around to stay far away from this movie and that it's just not worth it. "The Mummy" starring Tom Cruise had such a stupid storyline, poor directing and yeah, terrible acting.

Golden Raspberry Award Nominations: Worst Picture Worst Supporting Actor- Russell Crowe Worst Supporting Actress- Sofia Boutella Worst Screenplay Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel The Razzie Nominee So Rotten You Loved It.

Golden Raspberry Award Winner: Worst Actor- Tom Cruise

He never was my all-time favorite actor or anything like that but I knew that Tom Cruise had much better acting roles and worked in much better movies in the past, such movies like "The Outsiders", "Risky Business", "Ridley Scott's Legend", "Top Gun", "The Color Of Money", "Rain Man", "Born On The 4th of July", "A Few Good Men", "Interview With The Vampire", "Far and Away", "The Firm", "Magnolia", "War Of The Worlds", even the "Mission: Impossible" franchise was a bit fun to check out.

(My apologies but I always had thought that Tom Cruise is such a snotty and arrogant douchebag in real life.) Most of the times, an empty movie theater can always tell ya' something right away.

A Classic Film with some Hollywood Racial Add-on's
1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Audrey Hepburn's acting is spot-on and as great as it could ever be, and so is Fred Zimmerman's directing. The Cinematography: Beautiful. The music scoring of the great Franz Waxman: Beautifully well-conducted. Yet, you can never be so sure on the historical accuracies of this film (or all bio-pics that's based or inspired by true stories) but I'll give some greatness on the film's screen story, except for some of the racial stereotypes that's portrayed somewhere in the middle of the movie. One scene for example shows a white nun handling the babies of a gathering of their black mothers and teaching 'em how to wash & clean their children. SERIOUSLY?! That's one of the few scenes that made me feel real sad to watch.

An Academy Award nominated film: Best Picture Best Director-Fred Zinnemann Best Actress-Audrey Hepburn Best Screenplay-Based on material from another medium-Robert Anderson Best Cinematography-Color-Franz Planer Best Film Editing-Walter A. Thompson Best Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture-Franz Waxman Best Sound-George Groves No wins.

This is one of those Classic Films that I'll say that I both liked & not liked I think that we should always see all Classic Films with having the thoughts of both ups & downs and this is definitely one of 'em.
