Beaver's natural boyhood aversion to girls is well played out here...he doesn't hate them, he just doesn't "get" them. Mr. Dennison's act of bailing Beaver out of the situation of the all-girl party further displays the usual differences between young boys and girls (and how we eventually grow out of them).

People like lor need to get a life. Guns and "indians". NRA propaganda. Sheesh..... (I notice he? Is obsessed with po rn and bored with sexy women in other reviews - how disgusting! LOL)

Since the purveyors of this site will not let me correct the non-goof goof, I'll do it here. Calling a refrigerator an "Ice Box" was not an uncommon thing for decades after they came into existence. Well into the 70s, we occasionally heard someone refer to the "ice box" in the kitchen. It's not a mistake.

Yes, this story is over-written, over-directed, and over-portrayed. Beaver is too old to act THIS badly when upset with his mom and kissing-up to dad in such an obvious way...well, it's just a pretty poor episode. But, the worst ever on TV? LOL! Not sure how anyone can say it only deserves a zero rating. Talk about exaggeration.....hoo boy!.

BTW, the music coming out of Eddie's FM set sounds more like Mantovani than classical. But, we get the idea.

Good story, bad critiques

A good story about right and wrong, and how being an adult doesn't make a wrong, right. Beaver's been instilled with a strong sense of that.

This idea (among several commenters) that Langley should have been out $1000 is wrong. If he had lost the $500 in the first place, there would have been no second bet to correct his cheating. To double the bet would probably not have been accepted and would have likely brought forth the idea that he (Langley) had cheated the previous week (risking his club membership!).

Bye, bye. And buy bonds.

No faulty premise here.

While others think that the coach (and Ward) should let Wally off the hook because Lumpy and Eddie started the towel-throwing and besides, it's just youthful fun that "everyone" did. So, how else does a parent teach their kids to do and act properly and obey rules? (obviously, the parents of the poster in question didn't). No, all three deserve the punishment. Period. And it's no over-reaction. It's called teaching and discipline.

For the GenY & Z crowd, just think of it as a Gold Star for Participation.

Now for the "don't bother reading this as it's to fulfill the posting requirements for the site" part.

Death of a Salesman (1966 TV Movie)

Very good, but...

Death of a Salesman is one of my favorite plays / movies/ "books". Every version is very worthwhile to watch. This one has an interesting and surprising cast - Wilder, Kopell, etc. The only one I have a "problem" with is Cobb himself. I just have a real hard time seeing Cobb as a successful salesman. I can't see him as the smiling, kiss-up-to-make-a-sale type. No doubt, he was an excellent actor and I do like this version of the play. But, I still find myself not quite believing Cobb as Loman.

The other version I'm most familiar with is the TV play with Dustin Hoffman as Loman. Although he takes the characterization a bit too far the other way, I find it more believable (though this cast in total is better). In any case, seeing different versions of this excellent play is always worth the time.

The Beverly Hillbillies: Doctor, Cure My Frog (1970) Season 9, Episode 6

Time to stick a fork in it!

Legend has it that Beverly Hillbillies was cancelled in the "rural purge" by CBS president Fred Silverman. But, truthfully, after half a season of that pathetically unfunny Shorty (who will actually return yet again later in this season), another on-and-on series of episodes of Phil Silvers' bit, and now an endless story arc about a "frogman", it's clear that the writers had run out of ideas and the show had run it's course. I would say the show maybe ran a season or two too many.

All good things must come to an end, and this one stuck around a little too long.

Provides what a sitcom is supposed to: Laughs!

Oh, so the episode relies on unrealistic premises and farcical diseases? NO! Not on Hogan's Heroes!

This one is silly, unrealistic, and completely stretches any degree of credulity. So, what?! It's funny throughout, well written, and well directed and acted. Nothing more is necessary from a good sitcom.

And Mr. Confirmation Bias: learn what the phrase means and how to use it. SMH....

OK. Enough with all the Phil Silvers as con-man bilking the Clampetts and Drysdale trying to stop him. This story arc started in the last episodes of last season and for some unfathomable reason, is continuing well into this one. Silvers was annoying as can be in the first place and his inclusion in so many epsiodes of B. H. is just too much. Please stop! (Yes, I know I'm yelling at people who are long dead, but I'm still here having to watch this bilge).

A funny, well scripted episode shows Hogan taking a different tack in disrupting the German hierarchy! This sitcom was generally always well-written, directed, and acted, and this episode is no different in that regard.

A very well written, directed, and acted episode. Nice twist of messing with a radio propaganda woman rather than the usual German military or secret service officers.

A shame we get yet another bloviated, self-important tome by a certain poster. He really should look up the term "confirmation bias" before using it to berate other reviewers. Just embarrassing himself, to be honest.

No episode of this program better demonstrates why a) the final season should never have happened and b) why it was soon to be cancelled by the "savior network" CBS. Other shows did "Beatle" stunts, too, but none that I can think of were quite so pathetically bad. Stick a fork in Hazel (the program)! It's was done long ago!

It wasn't enough to have a multi-episode story arc with the hillbillies going to England. NO! They have to repeat the whole thing a second time! It was a stupid, largely unfunny story the first time around - why do it again? And with the same lame misunderstanding / misused words jokes. I loved BH in it's early days (first 3 or 4 seasons) but maybe the premise was stretched too far and too long.

Very entertaining episode

An interesting story with a lot going on. The story is the Heroes trying to stop a truck convoy. Originally going to blow up the tucks with dynamite, plans change and Newkirk lights the fuse to blow up the evidence. No useless scenes in this one. The Heroes play musical instruments near the end in an effort to cause an avalanche to block off the trucks. Very interesting and inventive.

The last episode filmed, it did not disappoint! To use the trite and silly phrase of someone else, a "good watch" (maybe that person's reviews need a rewrite).

Hogan must get a U. S. general out of camp just as General Burkhalter's sister shows up with her intended - Klink's new number two. (That POW camp sure has a lot of Allied Generals going through it!)

The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–1966)

Dated. Very dated...

This show was a top ratings-getter back in the early to mid-60s. It was funny, with a lot of good dialogue-writing, characterized by some of the best comedic-actors of the time.

But, as time has gone on, this show has become dated and, at times, a little embarrassing to watch. The whole "I know kids! Let's do a show right here!" bit is so cornball. Right in the middle of a party, everyone moves the furniture to the perimeter of the room and a perfectly choreographed skit ensues, complete with well-rehearsed song and dance routines. Uh-huh...

The best scenes are in the office. Sally, Buddy, and Mel banter is some of the best on TV. The home scenes are often superfluous and pointless.

The show should have been more along the lines of 90% Office, 10% Home. And skip the silly "put on a show" stuff.

Once again, Nina Talbot and her extremely annoying character, Marya, gives Hogan's Heroes another episode to avoid at all costs. I will never understand why the producers and writers of this show continually brought her back. An awful characterization, ridiculously portrayed with a preposterously bad "Russian" accent... just gawd awful.

...Barney episodes. In reality, Barney would be suspended or fired for insubordination for disobeying the Sheriff's orders. Yet, wimpy Andy does virtually nothing. At the very least, Andy should've punched Barney's lights out! It's not a funny episode, only very, very annoying and aggravating.
