So I just finished the last episode of this show and I decided to give an updated opinion on it, before I was really high on it but my opinion has changed a lot since then. I'd probably rate it 6.4/10 and that's being extremely nice? The 1 star reviews are pretty awful imo since yea it's not really resident evil besides the umbrella corporation being the main focus point, the Birkin family existing along with Albert Wesker and his family, and zombies/the t virus being the main enemy/secondary focus point. Also the music choice for the series was really everywhere and I only liked one song they played which was faith by ghost. I also feel like the series was trying to go and lean towards gen z people which made the show a lot worse imo.
Is it a good watch? I'd say yes since it is an entertaining series to watch but as a diehard resident evil fan I wouldn't really recommend it if you're watching it purely for new resident evil content. I really liked it though but it didn't add anything new to the resident evil universe. I was especially a fan of Ella Balinska's character Jade Wesker? I thought she was pretty cool/badass and was a good main character of the show. I had never heard of her before this show along with practically everyone else in the show besides Lance. Speaking of Lance Reddick, I especially loved him as Wesker and my only complaint was how fake his wig looked when he was shown as the "real" wesker, it was really noticeable.
Also I'm mainly saying that it didn't add much to the resident evil lore/main series' story since I'm not even sure if the show is canon to the series/games? If it is then yea it's added a lot of new lore to umbrella, wesker as well, and a lot of new zombie types to the series. I did really enjoy the show though and I'd still recommend it I think.
The main part which I truly liked was the ending and I won't spoil that since that would be a bad/a**hole thing to do but the character they revealed/teased to appear in the next season will be interesting and I'm hoping the show gets a season 2 purely for that character since she's an awesome character and could possibly make the series a lot better and more interesting? I hope the show doesn't get a daybreak ending and get canceled but most likely with the hate and outcry of how bad the show is it most likely will be canceled.
