This movie is horrible. Don't waste your time. Marilyn is made to be the perpetual victim, in a film that might seem to suggest otherwise. It's not factually true and the made-up fictions simply reinforce the ongoing exploitation of Marilyn. It's a real disservice to the courageous and intelligent woman Marilyn really was, and sadly, to the excellent Ana De Armas, who acts her heart out here.
Scenes that falsify her real story and mislead for no good reason: the drowning in the bathtub; the threesome with Chaplin and Robinson; the circumstances around the loss of Marilyn's baby with playwright Miller; the scene representing her affair with Kennedy-totally made up; any actually real dialogue based on Marilyn's quoted words and thought; and so on. For more info on the film's depiction of her, see "How Accurate is the Marilyn Monroe Movie 'Blonde'?" by Monroe biographer Charles Casillo, in AARP Magazine September 27, 2022. The film is more character assassination than anything else. How does this contribute to our understanding of her? And all that slick cinematography that makes you feel, queasy? That's just your gut telling you, it ain't true, either as art or as biopic.
