Death Note: Desu nôto: Shin sekai (2007)
Rushed and inconsistent
Though on a first viewing this episode is full of suspense, with a lot of good pay offs (Matsuda, for example), The second you start to actually think about what you're watching it falls apart.
Near couldn't possibly have made a perfect replica of the notebook in a single night. Mikami had written too many names, at least 28,000, for even the world's fastest writers to be able to perfectly replicate them all in under 18 hours.
You'd think that Light would tell Mikami to write everyone's names on a torn piece of the notebook that he would have ripped out weeks in advance.
When Light is caught, why does he blatantly whip out his watch like a dork? Why doesn't he wait until he's handcuffed in the police car to do it? His hands would be in the perfect position.
Had Light not said "I Win", Near would have nothing on him. There was no actual proof that him and Mikami were working together. Near would be in a similar situation to L, where he'd know Light was Kira but couldn't convict him.
There's a lot more. Light could've attempted to use the task force as pawns by writing their names down, Light could've written Halle's name, of one of Near's agents, to get her to kill Near, since he knew what her name was before the meeting in the warehouse.
Between Light being uncharacteristically impulsive and Near literally doing the impossible, I'm confident that this ending could've been written much better.

Expanding on episode 1
Expands on the characterization in episode 1. John Walker's introduction is well done and the viewers understand the conflicts between all of the main characters.
